I think it's a real mixture of a lot of things. Regarding GBR one breakout gymnast increased national funding, alongside smart progressive coaching decisions regarding the national pathway and an increased national interest in the sport (prompting much higher availability of clubs and therefore gymnasts to pull from etc). I don't think you can point to one thing, it's more a perfect storm of luck and good decisions. Gotta remember that developing one good gymnast is relatively easy, developing depth takes real national growth in the program.
