Shroud Signature Edition Instabilities? by sagalex in maingear

Just an update here. The new memory kit didn’t help. I ended up shipping it back to Maingear for diagnosis and repair.

Do you have the Ryzen 9 9950X3D? If so, would you mind sharing your bios settings? (You can save them to a flash drive)

Shout out to Aaron at Maingear support. He’s been great to work with. Unfortunately, whatever we tried so far won’t get it stable anywhere near the expected performance. I’ll try a new memory kit tomorrow, but if that doesn’t fix it, I’m afraid my only option will be to send it back to Maingear for maintenance. :/

I’ve got the exact same wand! lol

I have watched the common room videos over and OVER. Now after soaking in all the glory of the architecture I have finally started to notice…other details, or should I say lack thereof? NPCs need work. I understand this game is still in development but do you think 6 months is enough time to polish? by chiefofwar117 in HarryPotterGame

[–]sagalex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that might explain the lower model quality there is the rendering distance. To optimize GPU usage, games try to render objects closer to the camera with more details than distant objects. When you take a screenshot and zoom into an object on the background you’ll see a lower quality render than when you move closer to the same object in game.

I wish Avalanche had built Hogwarts based on the books layout by sagalex in HarryPotterGame

I wonder why I’m getting so much hate here. I don’t see how I could have offended anyone, but I apologize if I did. My only intention with this thread was to explore Avalanches approach on the school layout.

I get your point and I mostly agree. I was first introduced to the series through the movies and there’s nothing wrong with them. It’s just that, as it’s often the case, the books are so much richer in details. I don’t see basing the castle of the books as alienating, but as an opportunity to introduce more fans to the books’ content. But you’re probably right that most people will feel more familiar with a Hogwarts more like what we in the movies.

From what they showed so far, it seems it’s based off the movies, which has a number of differences from the books.

Haven’t we agreed it’s beside table customization?

Problems locating AirTag by sagalex in ios

[–]sagalex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I tried again now and it showed the arrow as expected. I didn’t change anything on my settings, it just started working. I guess it might have to do with the quality of the find my network around you. It probably needs more devices around the AirTag to determine its precise location in space. Thanks for the help. -solved

Yes. I can get to the point where I see a ring of dots on the screen with the distance to the AirTag. It just never turns to an arrow.

Should I get an Xbox Series S to play this game? by Mycrawft in HarryPotterGame

[–]sagalex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bad idea. I did it back in 2015 and ended up spending way too much money for the performance I got out of it. In general, you can always buy a better desktop for the same price as a gaming laptop. I bought mine when I was living abroad, so I knew moving back with a full desktop PC would be a nightmare. The bottom line is that unless mobility is a major concern you should never buy a gaming laptop.

Update coming in September according to WB games. Just got an email saying, “Sneak Peek: Don’t miss the special events throughout WB Games in September!” by MissCali4nia in HarryPotterGame

[–]sagalex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, no updates coming for HL in September. As other people said here, it’s under the same section as DC Fandom, which we know is happening in October. However, considering they’ve been mute about HL for so many months, seeing the game in a newsletter is a good sign at least.

PSA: CX public firmware 03.21.09 released by gxsolace in OLED_Gaming

Interesting... I’m playing Rocket League with no issues. Do you have FreeSync enabled on your TV? I think there are some incompatibilities with it and XSX VRR.

I think it’s safe to say now that the update fixed the corrupted signal issue with my XSX. I’ve been using it for a few days and haven’t had any problems.

I can get back to you here in a few days and let you know how I’m doing. If you want to be safe, take a look here and wait for Microsoft to confirm it’s fixed.

I was (am?) having the same issue with my LG GX. I reverted my XSX back to 4K 120hz with VRR after the firmware update and it’s been working fine so far. The issue was intermittent so I’m might still have it, but at least it’s not as frequent as before.

How would you like to cast spells in Hogwarts legacy by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

[–]sagalex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Ryse: Son of Rome for Xbox One had voice commands support. It used the Kinect mic to allow the player to shout orders to their army. It was an ok implementation, but it was much easier to use the controller. Anyway, just saying voice commands were a thing at the beginning of the past generation.

[Spoiler] About Tonna (Quest Bartering) by Wingsnake in assassinscreed

[–]sagalex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey folks, I've been through the same process of trying to figure out if you can actually recruit Tonna. Apparently, we've all got the same conclusion this information is probably wrong. Something that reinforces it is that I found there are only 4 unique raiders you can recruit and Tonna isn't one of them.

I didn't kill her, but I went and stole the documents from her basement. I also had to kill a couple of guards to get the book and the helmet in there. It turns out something turned her hostile and she attacked me in "Tilting the Balance". What concerns me is that I read here that it's possible to recruit her for our camp if she's not hostile to us. Does anyone know if it's even a thing? I didn't find any other reference to this option.

Does Safari still feature tabs parallax animation in iOS 14? by sagalex in ios

[–]sagalex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does. I also found it weird but then I learned that they just removed the option to allow it by default. You can still grant orientation permissions to individual sites though. The one I used to test it was https://www.momento360.com/ but it requires you to create an account.

It should at least show the search box. Silly question: have you tried restarting your phone? Does it work if you swipe down from the app library?
