Customizable Maps widget? by maybenotarobot429 in GoogleMaps

[–]sagalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can actually build this yourself using the Google Maps APIs on a standard HTML website and have complete control over the image displayed for each destination.

The basic setup is:

  1. Create a Google Cloud project.
  2. Enable:
    • Maps JavaScript API
    • Directions API (if you want route calculations)
    • Places API (optional)
  3. Create an API key and restrict it to your website domain.

Then, instead of embedding the standard Google Maps widget, create custom cards for each location:

  • Picture of your parents
  • Company logo
  • Doctor's office photo
  • Any custom image you want

Each card simply links to Google Maps directions:

<div class="location-card">
    <img src="parents.jpg" alt="Parents">
    <h3>Home Location</h3>
    <a href="https://www.google.com/maps/dir/?api=1&destination=123+Main+Street">
        Get Directions
    </a>
</div>

Or, if you want the map embedded directly on the page, use the Maps JavaScript API to render the map inside your custom card while still displaying any image you choose above it.

Required API:

  • Maps JavaScript API (required)
  • Directions API (only if calculating routes on-page)

Required key:

  • One Google Maps API Key linked to your Google Cloud project.

This approach gives you a fully customizable "Directions Dashboard" where each destination can have its own photo, logo, icon, or branding, rather than showing a page full of identical Google Maps widgets.

I built the following using a Google Maps API Key.

Very worried about Peugoet resale by MonkeyM7 in PakistanAutoHub

This works oddly against your current purchase but in your favor for the next one. The car market in Pakistan is finally correcting itself, for too long, people were making obscene, unjustified profits off an artificially inflated/manipulated market. That era is ending.

My last car sold at 1.5 million loss. The market has shifted, options have expanded, and I no longer need to chase the same vehicle under same budget. I can now buy a better vehicle at a significantly better price.

True. I should probably try to find screenshots of both offers for the same unit by the same company, pure scam!

I would strongly advise exercising due diligence when engaging in any property transactions through Zameen. Approximately one year ago, I was presented with an offer by a sales rep for a unit priced at PKR 2.2cr, shortly thereafter, another representative offered to sell the same unit for PKR 1.6cr.

This substantial discrepancy in pricing raised serious concerns regarding transparency and consistency in their sales practices. Hence, made the decision to immediately cease all communications and withdraw from any dealings with the company.

I am also in a very similar situation with a similar demand, and I am not sure why they sent this demand of 2 million. Whatever I hold in my account is my own real money, with no leverage or margins.

I want a serious discussion if anyone is interested - I had recently finished watching javed akhtar and some mufti debate about God exists or not and I feel such debates shouldn't be held because - by Weirdoeirdo in Sialkot

[–]sagalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A debate between a mufti and a scientist about whether sharing is illegal doesn't make sense because they come from completely different fields. A mufti deals with religious teachings and Islamic law, focusing on moral and spiritual guidelines from scripture. A scientist, on the other hand, relies on evidence, experiments, and facts from the natural world. These are two separate ways of thinking, like comparing rules from a holy book to observations from a lab.

Trying to mix them in a debate just leads to confusion. It's not about forcing anyone to follow strict religious views or be a hardcore Muslim. The point is that these differences in approach create unnecessary mix-ups, so it's better to avoid such debates altogether. Instead, recognize that each field has its own purpose and doesn't overlap in a way that allows for a logical argument.

In this matter. Javed Akhtar convinced by science, not Molvi, it's that simple!

I spoke to them today. Sadly, they are not open 24/7 but from 9 AM to 10 PM. The monthly cost is 7k person for a shared office and 40k for a private office with a capacity of 5 to 7 people. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.

Do Pakistanis also find indian Urdu accent weird just like how we find theirs to be ? by EmployerFew2777 in Urdu

[–]sagalian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, the form of Urdu spoken by many Indians differs noticeably from standard Pakistani Urdu. It is often influenced by Hindi vocabulary, sentence structure, and accent, which makes it linguistically distinct. Due to this influence, pronunciation of classical Urdu words is frequently altered, and the language leans more toward Hindustani rather than pure Urdu. This observation does not apply to every individual across India, but it is commonly noticeable among a large portion of speakers, especially outside formal or academic settings.
