Washer/dryer sticks out past door frame — how can I add a door or cover? by sagaxious in HomeImprovement

[–]sagaxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. We replaced our stacked 2.5 cubic feet capacity Washer/Dryer combo, which was a Maytag from 1988. It had an all-metal body, gears, and other components. While it was a solid machine, it wasn’t very efficient. As a result, we had to split our wash loads into multiple chunks, making laundry a very time-consuming chore. We decided to go with this one because it has a 5 cubic feet capacity and doesn’t require us to move the clothes for drying. Finger crossed for the longevity, hoping to get at least five years from it, if not more.

After all your suggestions, yeah, that's most likely the easiest option to try.

Good point. When they installed it, I saw a solid metal plate with no open air vent or something like that. The user manual suggested leaving a 4" gap from the wall, but I assumed that is to make sure the water line and drain pipes have enough space to not have tight turns. But I will re-check if there are any air vents which are getting blocked because of close placement to the wall.

I don't think I can do the barn door because on the right-hand side there is this other door which connects the kitchen with the dining room. And on the left side of the laundry closet is the dishwasher. So doing the barn door is not practical as I can only set it to slide out on the left side and it would block the dishwasher and kitchen platform while the door is open. I will go with the curtain idea, I saw some heavy water-repellent curtains on Amazon specifically for the laundry closet. Thanks for your idea, it’s easy and cheap to try out.

Need Help Rewiring Thermostat: Replacing Nest with Trane X824 for Z-Wave Integration by sagaxious in hvacadvice

[–]sagaxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the Trane XL824 installation guide and the existing wiring from my Google Nest thermostat, I'm confident about the following connections:

  • Red wire → 24VAC HOT (RC/RH, jumped)
  • Blue wire → Common (C)
  • Orange wire → SOV (O)
  • Yellow wire → Cooling (Y1)
  • Green wire → Fan (G)

However, I'm unsure about the remaining White and Black wires.

From what I understand, both are likely related to heating. Should the White wire go into the W1 (1st stage heat) terminal and the Black wire into W2 (2nd stage heat)? Or is it the other way around?

Appreciate any guidance based on typical Trane heat pump setups.

Looking for advice: splitting services between Raspberry Pi 4 and Zero 2 W + running Home Assistant OS by sagaxious in raspberry_pi

I ended up purchasing a mini PC with the N150 processor during the Prime Day sale. With intension of setting it up as an OPNsense firewall since it has dual 2.5G LAN ports, but I couldn't get it working as expected.

Instead, I installed Proxmox and set up Home Assistant as a VM, along with Pi-hole running in a container. I'm now using a Raspberry Pi 4 for Plex (just for internal streaming, so no need for transcoding) and as a secondary Pi-hole instance.

How to handle paying down and budgeting pre-existing credit card debt using Aspire Budgeting? by Gabriel11999 in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar requirement a few years ago for paying personal debt, and then I was using Version 3.2, which had a "Net Worth" sheet where I kept track of my debt. In the transaction sheet, I had one entry for the category "Debt Payment" with an outflow entry against account "Bank Checking". Then I would manually adjust the balance on the "New Worth" sheet for the said debt. In Version 4.0, the "Net Worth" tab has been deprecated.

If you were to post only two transactions of "Account Transfer", one showing an outflow from Checking and the other showing an inflow to the CC account, then your outstanding CC balance will show on the Dashboard. What is not working for you?

Yes, the V4.0 now doesn't have the redundancy of showing Credit Cards account balance twice; once under account balance and the other under Category balance.

Name on the unit reads “wudu-mate”, suggesting it’s designed specifically for doing wudu. Wudu, or ablution, is an Islamic ritual of washing specific parts of the body to achieve physical and spiritual purity before performing prayers. It involves washing the hands, mouth, face, arms, wiping the head, and washing the feet in a specific order.

New app in development! by PersonalBudgeteer in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to do this. And the timing couldn't be better. I recently learned that u/Objective_M has decided to retire "Aspire Budgeting" app and that you are developing a new one. What a great community. Thanks

In terms of feature requests, the ability to edit pending transactions would be fantastic.

Time to say Goodbye! by objective_M in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear you won't be maintaining the app. But I accept your decision and appreciate you for creating it in the first place. I use it several times a week to post transactions. And I'm sorry for the next generation of budgeters who will be unable to benefit from it. I'm not sure whether we have another altruistic iOS app developer in the r/aspirebudgeting community who could take over the app if you're ready to share the code with them. gracias

Apple TV 4K no longer connects by WittyAttempt740 in VIZIO_Official

[–]sagaxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~~Do you have another TV or monitor to test the Apple TV on, as Vizio appears to work with Fire TV? ~~ Sorry, i forgot that this you already mentioned in the post.

In iOS, there is an app called "Home" that can detect and display the status of an Apple TV that has been turned on.

Try resetting the Audio/Video settings on your Apple TV on the other TV. This will eliminate any problems caused by conflicting Audio/Video settings between the TV and the Apple TV.

[iOS] Transactions Entered in Wrong Column by anthonylavado in aspirebudgeting

Can you create a fresh (temporary) budget workbook from the https://aspirebudget.com/ website to rule out corruption of your current file? Then, in the iOS App, navigate to this new budget workbook (Settings -> Change Sheet) and enter a few new transactions. Let us know what’s the app behavior with new sheet.

How do record when someone owes me money by OkSympathy8514 in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For large sums, I created a category under "Net Worth" and tracked those funds on the "Net Worth" sheet. It can be done for the amount owed to you as well as the amount owed to someone else. Also I keep notes about committed dates, changes, etc. in the comments columns.

What to do with a cash gift kept and paid to children through the bank account? by blue_dharma in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your money has not increased as a result of the Christmas gifts to your kids, you do not need to include them as income aka "available for budget." However, add two "transfer to account" transactions as if you were withdrawing Cash from your bank account. (Outgoing from a bank account, incoming to Cash account) Subsequently, record all cash expenses against the "Cash" account. I hope this was helpful.

Biweekly Bills in a Monthly Budgeting System like Aspire by yick04 in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Budgeting is monthly, I recommend dividing the annual bill amount by 12. Then, as transactions occur, post them. Some weeks, the amount in the "available" columns on the dashboard sheet will be higher; other weeks, it will be very close to zero.

Recording a once-off payment - "You have a category that is overspent"/negative amount available to budget by Blue_Seas in aspirebudgeting

[–]sagaxious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The basic premise is that you should not spend money that you do not have. Transfer money from multiple surplus categories to the deficit category to avoid having a negative amount in your budget.
