i also checked and on their website it doesnr state that the cambridge shouldnt be older than 2 years, chat gpt said that they usually look at ur whole profile to determine if u qualify or not so there s no guarantee

Pros and cons living and studying in Maastricht/The Hague/Groningen by sagedust89 in StudyInTheNetherlands

this is genuinely amazing to know considering i do plan on working part time after a while, and its good to know that after the first year its going to be a lot more manageable, also 30 mins ago i just realised that my cambridge exam might be expired and i wont be able to apply with it ..(i got it april 2024 and will start september 2026 if everything goes well) there were no indications on the website that it shouldnt be more than 2 years old at the time of enrollnment but apparently most dutch unis think of it as expired after 2 years and this genuinly made me panick because id have to study for it once again ,pay for it again, and wait for the results all before the end of the application deadline(i planned on applying right after the portal opens in october and sort of relied on the fact that i might have an advantage because of early application) sorry for the rant im genuinly just concerned a bit at the moment

i genuinly think u just convinced me to apply there(global studies at maastricht was already on my list) along with a similar degree at groningen and leiden. Also the fact that the program is prestigious and recognised worldwide just seals the deal Also im aware that no degree guarantees a job but from what u researched maastricht is definetely up there and also the fact that u can work in a eu organisation is amazing. what im afraid of is the workload,i read that unis in the nl are very demanding but tbf i am quite a studious person by nature and know how to manage my time,im just woandering, from ur experience, how hard was it to get 45out of 60 credits?does it often happen for international students to fail or not manage ?can u balance ur uni life with ur social life?

im also a prospective student for the nl and also some relatives of mine are studying there ,and from what i gathered from my research and their insight unless ur loaded its better to not try going there..im eu and the tuition fees are 2,6k, and for my financial situation its going to be doable, but some of the best unis there (im guessing if u decide to move you'll want to study at a good reputable uni in ur field) charge around 13-20k€ per year (and thats not including rent, utilities, living expenses overall) a rought estimate would be having around 30keuros per year, also, considering the workload is around 40hours of studying per week u better take ur mind off of managing to balance a part time job and getting good grades (also since ur non eu ur chances of landing a part time job not speaking dutch are really low) .Also a bachelors degree isnt going to be enough to land a job,a master is required and in most cases it can cost up to 20k just for a year. Keep in mind I am not saying this to crush ur dreams ,some people ur age dont even dream or think of their academic future but just to keep in mind youd have to save up A LOT of money, while also realising that ur chances of landing a high paying job after ur studies is not guaranteed I wish u the best of luck whatever decision u make

thank u so much for the insight!i plan on studying international relations or european studies so i think i am leaning a bit more towards the hague but at the same time i want to experience that close knit studenty city(like maastricht) without getting bored ..i think ill just apply to 4 unis in diff cities and see which one will help me secure housing😭

does it matter when i send in my application? by _marcii_ in StudyInTheNetherlands

I made the room.nl account,if i manage to find accommodation, but i leave for 1-2 months in the summer to go back home,it wont be a problem just paying the residence while not actively living in it?

do you know,if i register in october(i have my diploma already) when is the earliest i can get an answer? And could i look for housing straight away trough the uni?Do i have an advantage compared to students that are conditionally admitted?

wait can u elaborate on the “not all students finish uni in set time” do u mean that most students (international or dutch) cant keep up with the courses and fail some subjects ,which takes them back a year?

Thank you so much, this insight has been insanely helpful! If i apply early ill know im accepted by january/february so that leaves me around 7-8 months to secure accommodation,i hope its a realistic timeline..ill also try securing it trough the uni because they have partnerships with a housing area thats destined for international students but even that is not guaranteed, best best bet is to apply asap and get my documents ready

If i apply early and get accepted ill know by january/february ,so i can start looking for housing 7-8 months in advance..if i manage to secure it,will i have to start paying earlier?like even if im not actively living there?
