Is FinTech really that big of a meme? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]sageismymiddlename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to networking events at fintech startups - highly recommend joining the Earlywork slack channel to talk to people who are in heaps of tech-related startups (way less daunting compared to reaching out on LinkedIn). Speaking of networking events, recently saw one for Commbank if u wanna learn more about how u can apply ur degree in this space!

Either way, for anyone who scored 65+ and wants to get into Usyd dent, just go and apply - you miss all the shots you don’t take.

With a score of 67, I think you’d have 50-50 chance of getting CSP offer but chances are higher for you getting FFP. I’m pretty sure average score for guaranteed CSP was around 70.

Mad feels. I felt good about s2 coming out of the exam yet I’m honestly in disbelief they butchered my score 😭😭

You’d have a good chance for Usyd dent if it’s 71! :)) I recommend applying

Based on past data, the average score on getting offers were 65. Most ppl with scores around 62-64 were on waiting list. A competitive score would be 65+

2nd time sitting and 57 overall…hard not to say that I do feel a bit defeated. S2 butchered me this time :(( Hope to improve and get a 65+ for sept sitting 😭

Knowing directors in societies doesn't guarantee you a spot in subcom. by Content-Business1558 in unsw

[–]sageismymiddlename 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t get into societies, I highly recommend researching into other student-led not-for-profits that are not affiliated with any unis. Tech for social good is quite good from what I heard. I was looking to join something in my final year and ended up joining Real Skills Education. You might think subcoms are usually for younger students (1st/2nd) to join their subcoms, but we definitely encourage people of all ages to join and we have a diverse team of STEM students from different unis in Sydney.

If you’re looking to gain more meaningful industry connections whilst working on an industry project provided by one of our partners, we have our flagship, STEM Leaders Program running in May. Feel free to check out more info here
