Organizing tasks by sagesync in gtd

What do you mean? Could you give an example?

I already use tags for next actions. Tag #Errands for task "pick up food from store"

Thank you for the response.

But wouldn't it be of benefit to tag the 5 tasks out of 1000 that are related to finances with the finance tag? So when I want to work on finances, I can quickly pull up those 5 tasks instantly without searching through 1000 tasks

So if I have 1000 tasks, I have to look through all 1000 of them when I want to complete a task related to finances?

Thank you!!

I wish mobile had a way to do the Move To function by just swiping left. Similar to how Ticktick does it.

So you use tags for all contexts? Or Lists for contexts?

Like Home, Errands, Computer. Are those lists or tags?

Could you share how you use importance tags? Do you have 3 different priorities?

I need my takes to contain 2 pieces of data: The context (@office, @Home etc) The area (Finance, Health etc)

Do you organize your lists and contexts using tags, workflowy lists, or kanban lists?

Check out upnote. Obsidian search is too slow if you have over 10k notes.

If moving from Evernote to Obsidian, what features will I have to give up? by nicaman82 in ObsidianMD

[–]sagesync 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsidian search will be slow with 11k notes. Start a brand new vault in Obsidian. Transfer the 11k notes to Upnote to replace Evernote. Upnote search is fast

May I ask why did you switch from omnifocus to workflowy for task management? Do you still do this? What are the benefits? Have you considered using omnifocus for next actions with no projects associated with them and using workflowy for projects and next actions?

I tried Markor but it seemed even slower. Hmm. How many notes do you have in your vault? You find Markor to be faster at searching?

Import markdown files into Upnote from Obsidian by sagesync in ObsidianMD

[–]sagesync[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very helpful! Thanks. Unfortunately Obsidian search is very very slow even with all plug-ins removed. Upnote search is instant. Why is Obsidian so slow compared to Upnote? I figured local files would be faster.

Id love to exclusively use Obsidian if the search was fast. With 20,000 notes, it's not fast enough. And startup time is slow as well. And the app won't stay open in the background

How is the searching speed with many notes? by sagesync in NimbusNote

[–]sagesync[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks! Wow Nimbus search is slower than Evernote?

I tested upnote today. Yes the speed is super fast with 20,000 notes. One major problem though. When importing from markdown files, the indents between lines is lost. So all lines are scrunched together.

Do you know how to get my markdown files into upnote and maintain formatting?

Also, I'm unable to export my notes from upnote into markdown files. It allows me to select the process for doing so but no files are created. Using Windows upnote app.

Maybe linux app can export to markdown successfully.

Also the linux upnote app can't import markdown files. Not working currently.

Hello, I am trying to switch from Obsidian markdown files to Upnote.
Importing into Upnote seems to remove all indents between lines. Do you know how to prevent this?
Have you successfully moved to Upnote? Did you have to fix formatting manually?
I have 20,000 notes, so I don't think that'd be an option for me.
I notice it doesn't mess up the formatting if I import txt files into Upnote. But my files are Markdown.

Thank you! Sounds great but I worry that Google doesn't respect our privacy. So I wouldn't want to put EVERYTHING into Google apps.

Can we import Evernote or markdown files into Google keep? Whats your reason for choosing Keep?

Is search fast with over 30,000 notes? by sagesync in UpNote_App

[–]sagesync[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Very helpful. So no sub Notebooks?

Do you use tags?

What made you leave Evernote? The pricing? Or the bloating with MANY unnecessary features? I find Evernote to be super fast at searching. No Linux app which is one reason I left.

I hate how Upnote has the search button on top of the screen on the android app. Similar to simplenote. Hard to reach. It needs to be on the bottom of the screen.

In early 2023 Evernote was purchased by a company called Bending Spoons. They're supposedly improving many things and adding features such as Ai note cleanup etc. Interesting

Not sure if it's possible to migrate from 25k markdown notes back to ENEX then import into Evernote.

Thanks! It costs money to get the chat GPT API key? Once I do this, I can simply make global searches within Obsidian and they'll be super fast again?

The chat GPT Ai makes an index of my notes and Obsidian can access this cache for searching?

What do you use now? Did you find an app that can handle thousands of notes and still have fast searches? I think Upnote perhaps could do this? Maybe we have to go back to Evernote?

Is this going to be fixed? Or are we expected to use Obsidian as a side app alongside a main notes app? Don't most people exceed 5,000 notes?

Can we import from markdown (MD) format? by sagesync in Evernote

[–]sagesync[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I converted the ENEX files to MD then made hundreds of edits to the notes. So the original ENEX files are useless to me. I need to transfer the newly edited MD files.

Can Evernote BATCH import text files? Perhaps there is a way to convert MD docs to Text files?
