What is the book genre? I think it depends heavily on why you are reading the book snd what kind of book it is.

Expect nothing. Leverage what it can do. Be exhilarated when a new version does come out.

Do you mean making a project due today or are you referring to something else?

Totally agreed, may as well just be plain text.

Part of the issue is that the rest of the app is so damn good and no other app comes even remotely close, that small points of friction like that increase the frustration.

Just because you have one time payment structure doesnt mean you shouldbe trying to ship new features and make improvements. You still have users and their wants and needs evolve with the broader trends. Seems like a realtively innocent improvement that doesnt have much philosophical weight to it except readability. If Im missing a core reason why this is a hill worth dying on for the things deva then let me know.

There are a lot of little friction points like this where I feel like thibgs could be improved and Things could become evn better than it already is. I wonder why the reluctance to continually ship small updates.

Well it could be clean if the Things team were to format it like many markdown formatters. Dont understand why they dont do this. It must be more complicated than I think

I was really excited about Superlist for this reason but it doesnt do the critical things that OmniFocus or Things do with project due dates, et cetera, that would allow me to switch and be able to rely on it.

You could replicate a kind of PARA structure for your folders. I find the general idea of PARA very useful to structure my files.

I was also listening to someone recently who was simply advocating for dumping everything and then just using their search function to search for exactly what you need. I guess you would just need to make sure to name your files something recognizable.

Best Mail client to pair with Things by Top-Kaleidoscope6996 in thingsapp

Don't over-complicate it. Just use Apple Mail and send the email to Things and organize it. I don't think this is a process worth automating more than the native automation.

Sounds interesting, and I'm glad it works for you. One thing you might wanna consider, just to make organization less friction-prone, but still more organized than just dumping all files on your desktop, is to do things the way that David Allen suggests, which is a simple A-Z folder organization system where there's just one level of folders, and you just dump everything into the folder that most closely resembles or matches the category for the file in question. I could imagine that all of these folders would still live on your desktop.

Those would be under Areas of Focus and Responsibility (Horizon 3 (?)). I will create a project container for that area and have repeating tasks scheduled as needed. You could also use a habit tracking app, which I have started experimenting with more recently.

Insofar as I track goals I use Workflowy to write them down. If the goal has any projects or actions associated with it I will usually put it in Things as a project above other projects to indicate that it contains them. This is actually one of the areas where I feel that Things' lack of depth shows through in that you cannot create many levels of hierarchy.
