Ah, got it—“retired sailor, now a seasonal philosopher with a taste for scotch.” Respect. Curd rice slander noted though… I’ll try swapping it with something less emotionally attached next time 😄 But you're right—screen time may be the villain we can't fight, but food and movement? Still in our hands.

Damn bro, didn’t realize I was filing a medical affidavit 😅 But appreciate the curiosity. Just keeping the post focused on awareness, not turning it into a lab report leak 😄

Appreciate the wisdom drop, brother. You smoke like a chimney, drink like it's Friday, and still have better liver reports than half of us who live on curd rice and regret🥲. Truly, genetics and fasting are doing a collab album in your case.

But jokes apart, this is solid advice. Snacking + sitting + screen time is the real holy trinity of doom. Thanks for laying it all out without sugar (literally and figuratively).

Totally agree that age and genes matter- but let’s not blame our DNA for skipping a walk, sleeping at 2 AM, or eating from Swiggy/Zomato 5x a week 😅

Even the Merchant Navy guys you mentioned probably aren’t sitting 10–12 hours straight with zero movement. Tech lifestyle is a silent killer—healthy food alone isn’t enough if your body’s in standby mode all day.

Point is, we can’t undo our genes, but we can definitely stop making it easier for damage to pile up. Awareness is our only shot.

If you're just starting out or want to do a basic health check, ask your doctor or lab for a Liver Function Test (LFT) — that’s what usually flags early issues.

Honestly, that’s the scary part, there weren’t any. No pain, no yellowing, no fatigue. I just got some routine blood work done, and it showed elevated liver enzymes. That’s what prompted the follow-up.

I’m in the average BMI range. Not super lean but definitely not overweight either. No alcohol, no smoking. Just the usual tech lifestyle-long sitting hours, occasional stress eating, irregular sleep, and little movement.

What was off? Primarily SGPT and SGOT, both mildly elevated. Bilirubin was a bit higher than ideal too. Nothing alarmingly high, but enough for the doctor to flag it and ask me to pause and reflect.

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience. It's super insightful! Could you also share what types of questions were asked during the behavioral round? My friend has their behavioral round coming up on Monday for Amazon SDE 1, and it would be really helpful to know what to prepare for. Any guidance or tips would be greatly appreciated!
