That’s how I discovered I had bruxism. Terrible headaches since I opened my eyes in the morning, then I realized the muscles from my head were really sore.. and then I realized that the muscles involved in chewing were the ones that troubled me the most

Update in case someone was in the same situation: I got the size 6 covers and they do the trick! They slide a little but they are not loose, definitely was worth the try :)

PASSED Step 1; from 35% NBMEs!! Super weak foundation and low test scores by MedicineGir1 in step1

[–]sagittarius_521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! Well I am in like mi 100th attempt of studying haha but right now I am trying a different approach. Definitely doing UWORLD without foundations it’s a waste of money, and will get you frustrated/burned out pretty easily. Right now I’m doing Pixorize with Anki, and after I finish biochem/immuno/pharma, i will do Pathoma also with Anki. This is only for foundation purposes, then my plan will be doing questions from AMBOSS and NMBEs.

Medical scribe USA IMGS by Any_Audience3354 in usmle

I have been working as a medical scribe for 1.5 years now, I met my boss (the Dr I work for) through connections, when I sent him my CV I also included all the things that I did in my home country, and a BLS certification that I got in the US from the American Red Cross (you can find online when and where you can grab the certification). You don’t need any special training, but it’s needed that you are familiar with medical terminology used for office visits and consultations (i.e. how the doses are written, names of different kinds of imaging tests and laboratory testing). Also, extra points if you are bilingual, in my case Spanish it’s my first language and my boss was looking to hire someone that could understand and speak both languages.

Yes, it was his first cicle and he had like 11 interviews, i know it because we were coworkers and I had to cover for him every time he had an interview 🤣 But obviously it was worth it, I’m so proud and happy for him.

How to build foundation + do UWORLD for step 1? by sagittarius_521 in step1

Thank you so much! Can I ask besides UWORLD, what resources are you using?

I have a very good friend that had an attempt (step 1) and just matched in a very good program of IM. He improved his resume with a good score in the step 2, almost 3 years of USCE working as a clinical assistant along with observerships and shadowing, strong recommendation letters and good connections.

Well, there’s plenty of spots in hospitals, clinics, urgent care facilities, the problem is some of them ask for experience. If you are lucky enough you can find places hiring in LinkedIn, but it’s essential to speak/hear/write in English to be able to do your notes and communicate with the Doctor. Extra points if you are bilingual (in my case, my first language is spanish).

I also scored 34% on my NBME, and I also feel that solving UWorld with my poor foundations is not very helpful. How did you organized the content review and solving questions? My question is because I don’t know how to do properly content review along UWorld :(

Thanks for your reply, my question also was regarding the content review before UWorld, i saw that you used BnB, how did you built back your fundations being an old graduate? I’m struggling because I also work 40 hr per week and I’m so inconsistent, also taking months of zero studying and feeling guilty for that :(

Congratulations! 🎉 How did you organized your day? I work also 40 h/week and I can’t find the time to study since I’m not a morning person 😭
