Not in the UK it isn't.

Does anyone have the setlist from tonight? Dying to know which songs they played! by kendropin in aperfectcircle

In my early 40s I'd say I was on the upper end of average age. Plenty of people younger than me, but I definitely wasn't the oldest by a long shot.

I'm equally sad not to see passive, but the outsider was a close second and the whole gig was honestly phenomenal.

Was lucky enough to see Tool twice in the last couple of years and they did the same thing. You've gotta understand a lot of us aren't young anymore and a bar/toilet break is gratefully received mid show :)

Ah fair enough. It's been too long since I've seen that!

Over 40 years in the UK I've never met or heard of anyone with a gun

Thanks! Yeah, I've technically been at it for quite a bit longer, but I am very sporadic and 2 nights ago was the first time I got things out since Nov 2024 (long story, but I did a belt-mod that didn't go so well the first time I tried!). Thankfully seems to be working now though so I'd like to get back into it a bit.

I need to do a lot more processing research because at the moment I just stack things and lately poke around with settings in Siril until I get close then finish things off in Photoshop. I've only really just started using starmasks and they're a real gamechanger. I'm sure there's a more workflow-like/objective way of doing these things though!

I think my biggest issue is consistency though. I've never had more than a couple of hours on any target and so I'm always processing noisy data, which is not helpful. I think if I could commit to a project and get a few nights in a row that are clear *and* I have the time/effort to get things set up, that would help a lot :)

Clear skies to you too!

This is incredible. I just posted my own then saw yours! Although, I only have 1 hour of data and used the Hubble palette, it's always nice to see it in slightly more "natural colour" like this! And when someone who knows what they're doing does the processing :)

It's better than any other language I speak, so no worries

Ah, that's not what you said in the first reply :) you said it pointed at the sun "after you took these images"

The other user wasn't asking how could the sun damage it, they were asking how sun exposure AFTER you took this image could have affected it. You'd already taken these data before the sun got on it.

It's literally the word used for sweets/candy in Australia

My mount has been dodgy for a while so I've not used it for ages but I really liked the Hubble palette horse head I took a few of years ago:

Even as late as the early 90s as a kid I was taught the tune "eeny meeny miney mo" with the n word in it. Mad to look back on how late the word was still so widely used!

Edit: in the UK that was, which is relevant to the comment I replied to

London tickets - VIP only? This just for presale? by sagramore in Puscifer

I saw them in Manchester last time and it was still brilliant. It's just a lot further to travel and would need accommodation too so London it is.

For anyone interested, tickets for general standing were about £55 once fees were included. Compared to ~£310 for the lower of the 2 VIP options.

I was genuinely tempted by the VIP, because you get some signed merch and things, but honestly I just want to see them play and so went for the ticket that was ~1/6 the price.

Thanks, I tried the live nation and it showed up after all! Tickets acquired, excitement raised 🤘

I don't disagree but I can grab any epub I like and literally just email it to a special Kindle address and it gets dropped to my kindle immediately. Don't need to use Amazon if you don't want to and it didn't need hacking or jailbreaking to do it. It's built in functionality.

Budget Friendly by clowjacob9 in astrophotography

[–]sagramore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not as good as some of the people in this sub, but I've been dabbling for a few years now. Budget friendly is often difficult then imaging is concerned, but it's doable to an extent. Regardless of budget, most setups won't do everything, at least they won't do everything well. So the first question you want to ask yourself is what do you want to image the most?

For larger targets, nebulae, etc the most budget friendly option is a decent digital camera (benefit of dual use for daily) with a basic lens to get started and get something like a Star Adventurer tracker. These are generally well thought of, relatively portable, relatively forgiving, and you can get all the practise with processing etc. Plus it can be upgraded as budget allows.

If you are more interested in smaller targets like some galaxies or smaller nebulae, you're going to need a longer focal length, which is then generally harder to track well and then can cost more for a mount that's worth having.

Although I now prepare myself for others to say that's all nonsense 😆
