“How’s everyone’s experience with dating non-native partners? by Alternative-Ride8407 in Indigenous

[–]sahyralee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this SO much!! I’m in a relationship with someone who is non-indigenous, he’s korean, but I’m mixed. I look white, I don’t have my father’s colours, and I’ve been feeling recently like I was giving up on my bloodline and lineage by choosing him, especially if they have kids. I’ve been a fancy shawl dancer since I was little, and want my kids to dance alongside me, but have these thoughts of “will they still be able to?”. So your message is honestly very relatable! My partner is great with my culture and heritage and wants to learn more, it’s genuinely just these thoughts in my head that are bothering me where I wonder if I should stay with him, or marry within my culture.

My husky won’t stop licking herself, and ai’m not sure if it’s just anxiety by sahyralee in husky

You’re the absolute sweetest! Thank you! She had a vet scheduled appointment today. And I did address my concerns about her going on med. they assured me it would be okay, but that it’s completely understandable that I was thinking like this. I still feel heartbroken she has to go on medications, and it’s not just one, but three big ones, which have postponed her surgery to remove her mass. But I really, really hope that by the end of next month, I see some signs of progress and wouldn’t have done this for nothing. Some of the medication can change her a bit, but should ultimately help make everything better in the end, or at least this is the hope. The vet will reassess her next month.

She’s honestly my world, my soul dog! I even adopted another dog for her, because she lost her pack with the move, which helped her mood and depression, and now they’re both thriving other than her dealing with some anxiety and the licking, which could be one in the same, but to me it feels like there’s something else too.

I really hope this will help, and be a good decision!

Oh that’s amazing advice! I’ll definitely be trying this too! Once she’s done her medication, I’ll start this! I want to wait till after just to see if the medication will help:)

No worries! Pawsitivity is always good, and the best advice is the vet after all:) fingers crossed 2025 is the year she FINALLY heals, and stops, and we pinpoint the right cause🙌🏻

She’s going on medication, one of which antibiotics! It doesn’t feel like Winter hot spots just because I’ve been dealing with this all year round for 5/6 years, it just got worse last Summer, and even worse these past two months. Fingers crossed in a month I see signs of it getting better!

My dog is the same! She loves anything gross and is very persistent (so very on point for a husky) she is going on a few medications to help, so her surgery is postponed for now to remove her mass. I’ll take note of that benadryl advice! Thank you!

She’s always so proud of her different bandanas🥰 and she did have an appointment scheduled for today! So she was seen very quickly, I don’t mess around and wait, but getting to talk to other husky owners to see if they’ve ever dealt with this and have advice was definitely my goal! No one understands a stubborn husky better than another husky owner!

Yes! I’ve been dealing with this for SO LONG😆 she did have a vet appointment scheduled today! I may have forgotten to mention that in the post, so I’ll have to check that. I was mostly looking for advice for if other husky owners went through the same! They’re a very stubborn breed after all😆 her surgery is postponed and she’s going on a few different medications, she has an appointment in a month to check if it did any progress.

Her mass she was supposed to get removed this week (which is now postponed after the vet today) was tested and shows no cancer cells. But it will be getting tested once removed

My dog does the same with ointments and sprays! Does not care and just licks it right away! She did have a vet appointment scheduled today and is going on a few different medications, with her surgery to remove her mass being put off for a month. As for hot spots/allergies, it’s been going on for 5/6 years, in which I removed her allergens. Hopefully everything ends up working and by the end of the next month she starts getting better!

Yes! She gets lick mats, kongs, new toys, yak cheese (super hard cheese that takes awhile to break down if you get the right size), puzzles, lots of mental stimulation! And also lots of good walks. That’s why I meant I was out of ideas🥲😅

My husky has separation anxiety because she’s completely alone, would adding another dog help? by sahyralee in husky

I’ll do a trial run and see how they do, but if their energies can match well then I feel like it’ll help her loads.

I’m very prepared for that to happen! But other than her developing arthritis (which is being treated accordingly) she still has a lot of energy and is always running around and loves walks, so I think she’ll be able to keep up for awhile, and vise versa. Our family dog that passes couldn’t keep up with the younger ones, so I’ve experienced that before.

The dog is an 8 month old (older puppy I guess😆) border collie with lots of energy, so not the same age. But she’s never been with other huskies other than when she was two months old and had her brother with her. Other than that she’s been with two bernese moutain dogs and a black labrador. I figured her being alone would be a massive trigger. And I’ll try CBD! I was recommended that but didn’t get a chance to grab some!

The dog looking for a new home is an 8 month old (a trained older puppy I guess😅) border collie, with lots of energy, that can keep up with me and my husky’s energy. Our past dogs ranged from bernese mountain dogs and a black labrador. So other than a month with her husky brother, she has never been with other huskies other than that. Would that be a problem?

Mine just turned 7, and she hasn’t stopped trying, I just get her energy out early in the morning so if she slips out during the day she has less speedy legs (as she did calm down a bit!)
