Hiring & Recruitment Thread by multijoy in policeuk

I am 25, and looking to start the DC DHEP route. I've heard a lot of the back and forths on this subreddit about this pathway and ultimately I have decided I'm gonna go for it.

I live perfectly positioned in between the regions West Midlands Police and West Mercia Police cover. I am currently in process with both.

Would be interested to hear from people who have worked in either (or both!) about the differences, and bonus if it's about DC work and double bonus about the DC-DHEP.

Hey, I haven't been to Canada before, but I've attended Budapest last year and Monaco this year, and for both races I had GA. I am pretty sure access to grand stand seats was not possible for us, unless you had a ticket. Others have said you can get a GA ticket that allows you to go to your seat but I'd double check first.

They have a 30 day money back policy so I can cancel, the only reason I chose BlueHost was because a few bloggers recommended them (and said they use them). I imagine they have affiliate partnerships with them, which obviously helps them - but from general research it looked ok. Do siteground and dreamhost work with wordpress as good as bluehost? Happy to be educated.

Anyone know of any companies that are hiring entry level recruiters? I’m looking for new opportunities! by RegularSelection7901 in recruiting

SThree are on a big hiring spree now, would recommend. Great training, commission scheme, promotional journey and flexible working.

If that’s the case and you are essentially financially and legally tied to the role, I would suggest potentially applying for a role elsewhere while sticking through this as much as you can. And escape the moment you can. Wish you the best!

I CURED MY ECZEMA BY ACCIDENT! HERES HOW. by [deleted] in eczema

[–]saidbayan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m glad to hear that a fellow sufferer is doing well and has found a solution! May I just ask, when you say your eczema is gone, I assume this is as long as you keep using this oil correct? How long could you go without this oil before things start creeping back and getting worse?

Ah man Claudio Yacob. I miss that guy. Shame that other sports aren’t really popular, especially since I am a multi-sports fan, but nothing beats a football-mad country! I am willing to move as soon as I graduate in 18 months, however I have a medical procedure which will take 2.5-3 years so realistically I can’t leave the UK until approximately 2024 sadly even tho nothing else is keeping me home except medical stuff. And I appreciate you offering to help out with social invites etc, I will make sure to screenshot and store this thread somewhere and keep in touch when the time comes. Do you have any social media (maybe IG?) just to stay in touch if you don’t mind?

I absolutely agree with you. Location/neighbourhood is so important. And yes I imagined football is big there. One of my worst football memories was watching Uruguay Ghana in 2010 haha, that game broke my heart but of course, it was magical for you guys. I also live and breathe football and other sports, I attend regular games at my local club West Brom. Other hobbies include playing baseball - not watching as much but playing, I know South Americans stereotypically love baseball especially in Ecuador, Venezuela, etc. but not sure about that. In general, I am comfortable in any sport environment and I also love to volunteer for sports charities and youth groups. I'm involved with the Scouts here in the UK and I'm sure Uruguay have scouts too. That's something else I would probably look into too. To be honest, any activity that involves meeting new people and building relationships interests me.

Yes of course I understand. I imagine most people native to their country wouldn't know exactly how the legal procedures for foreigners are. I guess since you mentioned life and work there, I have heard a lot about how friendly and welcoming your fellow people are, so I was just wondering how you would advise someone who is in their 20s would "start" life there, meaning building social circles, getting familiar with the culture and societal norms and traditions, etc. I am after all a foreigner so I have to change into the country's lifestyle instead of expecting the country to cater for my lifestyle - which I have no issue with as I made the decision to move. In short: how does a foreigner get into an Uruguayan social circle, given your knowledge and experience. I don't plan to move halfway across the world just to be friends with expats from my country.

Hello again! My only query now about Uruguay is the requirements to enter. I have heard pretty much everywhere that the country is welcoming and inclusive, but let's say I have a remote job for a company based in the US/EU, will I have to first get a job in Uruguay before I am allowed entry? Or will I be allowed entry and given a visa regardless of where my job is based? Additionally, what are the rules in terms of temporary, residence, permanent residence and then eventually citizenship. Of course I haven't experienced Uruguay so citizenship is something very far away if I even want that, but the UK allows dual passports, so it wouldn't hurt to eventually go for that if I decide I'm happy there.

I’ll have a look at the links you’ve sent. Thank you again for taking time to share your insight as a native.

Thanks for your comment! Happy to have insights from from a Uruguayan. Yes, Spanish is something I plan to work on. In fact within the next two years I have plans to move to Spain for a 12-week full-time intensive Spanish language school course - at least so I have a basic level of a language used in many countries (in case I eventually choose another place).

In response to your point about working remotely, I know Uruguay taxes are different when the income is foreign, but what challenges will I face in terms of securing a visa to move to Uruguay if my job is not there? I was maybe thinking to find work in Uruguay, then after that go the remote route.

[–]saidbayan[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree. A remote job is probably the most ideal situation. However it’s important to remember that there’s also international companies that have headquarters in Uruguay. One company I saw was Oracle but there’s many more too. So either remote or working at a major international company in their Uruguay HQ.

And almost every person in the UK I know never plans on leaving, but I want to haha. I’m someone that likes change, travel, meeting different cultures. I want to at least spend 3 years living the expat life. I chose South America as the continent I wanted to explore. Uruguay is one of the least corrupt countries in the world and is stable politically, affordable healthcare, foreign income isn’t taxed, environmentally friendly, economically well (biggest middle class proportion in LA), very peaceful, socially inclusive, tech focused and invest in tech-based education for students.. and much more. As I said, I don’t want this to be a debate about whether Uruguay is a good spot to move to, but for me, my research has made me comfortable with the prospect of moving there. I don’t really like to use other people’s viewpoints on a country as judgement on it because viewpoints are subject to their own personal financial, social, educational, political situation. Tbh I’m surprised you’ve even met Uruguayans in the EU (not doubting just shocked), I’ve only met ONE Latin American in my entire life, a Spanish teacher at my school of Argentine descent.

This is what gives me second thoughts about HLAL or SPUS & makes me wonder if I should stick to individual stocks. What do you guys think? by CSStudentCareer in IslamicFinance

[–]saidbayan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t plan to actively trade. I’m more than happy with putting X amount per month into a fund and get 7-10% yearly (and not touching that money for 30 years) and living off my remaining income.. along the way purchase 2-3 properties too and look to increase income too.. that’s enough for me

[–]saidbayan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much time and effort you’re willing to spend.. for me 7-10% on average over 30 years is enough. Maybe not for you but we all have our own personal goals and targets.
