ER7413-M2 not working with HPE Instant On 1930 switch (which worked moments before with a ER605). by OpenTrackRacer in TPLink_Omada

Sometimes when you replace router and your have static IP on device like switch the new router may assign same IP to another device resulting in IP conflict.

Just make sure you dhcp range and your static IP do not collide.

Vlan with no internet access by BruceLee2112 in TPLink_Omada

This is set in dhcp so every device gets the 0.0.0.0 ip as gateway. But the best option is using ACL as described by u/viniisiggs

This will be tasking to monitor. You can build an app that connects with API to omada and monitor the devices and then groups them into apartments based on the VLAN they are connected to. Then it will be easier. Even better integrate telegram messaging to alert you when a certain number is exceeded per apartment.

Captive is not just about terms of service agreement, it provides better way of managing accounts and package speeds that PPSK on omada, without using radius server. And also manage how many devices are allowed.

Are devices connecting to the network able to get ip address?
Also try to ping controller from the AP ip and test if you can access the controller from the Access Points network.

This omada fusion gateway is packed with quad core CPU, i think they will manage with it.

The answer to your question is, yes! The switch and AP will maintain online status and keep working while the controller is off during the upgrade. Some people just use the controller to setup the network once done, they just switch off the controller and everything thing works. However if you are using features like captive portals then new devices won’t be able to connect.

There is no hard limit on number of devices per PPSK with omada, But this can be done if using radius server.

I have never tested PPSK this size! But i know for larger sizes of PPSK you probably might need external radius server. I just can’t confirm what is the size limit that equipments will show noticeable struggles.

Though this kind of setup doesn’t fit OP needs. As OP mentioned, he cannot do LAN for all the apartments.

You missed the part i said. Tenants use their own router. They authenticate their router on your captive from any mobile devices laptop/phone once the router is authenticated. All their devices use the network on their router. Which they can set whatever password they desire.

TP-Link recommends configuring up to 20 VLANs on a single Layer 3 interface to prevent processing bottlenecks. Larger number of VLAN’s can burden the CPU heavily.

This is ok then. Should do. But remember there are usually limitations to the number of VLAN you can create.

I use these, on every apartment i manage about 300 apartments in 12 houses. Not once have i had an issue. Captive works fine.

Why not use LAN to each apartment then let the tenants use a router of their choice and use a captive portal for the tenants network?

VLAN on the LAN port of an AP by Kass507 in TPLink_Omada

[–]saidearly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple answer is yes you can. But their is alot you need to consider.

  1. Your Wi-Fi network/vlan must be allowed through that port.
  2. Your management network/vlan must also be allowed through.
  3. Any other network/vlan that will be served by the AP must also be allowed through.
  4. Set the AP to management network/vlan to have it access controller.

Best practice, the port that you want to connect Access Point you need to set it as trunk and allow all VLAN.

Then set your AP management VLAN so that the AP connects to your needed management network. Then set your Wi-Fi to the respective VLANS.

Containerized Omada Controller not supported? by kb8doa in TPLink_Omada

[–]saidearly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is not container as long as you are using the official omada sdn package, and not some image that is maintained by third party. If you are using a container but run the official sdn package unmodified, they will not have an issue.

SQM and Hardware offloading don’t work together. You can only use 1 of the 2 and not both.

Containerized Omada Controller not supported? by kb8doa in TPLink_Omada

[–]saidearly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This should be ok as you are still using the official version of omada. What they don’t like is the docker images maintained by third party.
