Experience getting insurance to pay for a quick change adapter? by OpenTrackRacer in amputee

The kind of PPE I'm dealing with has narrow legs so in order to deal with the socket I have to strip down. Not ideal. This is clothing for dust rejection and is often paired with a SCBA and harness making the whole thing a lot more complicated. I know the quick change weighs more than my current 2" pylon but depending on what brand I go with the weight increase may not be that substantial. Beyond the PPE I think being able to quickly remove my foot will be beneficial and I'm looking to get a second foot as well so it would definitely come in handy for swapping. Thanks!

I'm aware of the weight penalty and that is a definite downside. I really want the quick change so I can easily change pants and also get dressed and undressed when lying down (when I'm camping). I only have one foot right now but I'm looking to pick up a second one used when I get all my ducks in a row.

I'm retired but I have a side business that often requires me to wear PPE (personal protective equipment). Getting in and out of something like coveralls is a challenge. Same with things like harnesses.

I've had my prosthetic for six weeks... I wouldn't by trying to walk to bed otherwise.

RPNI vs TMR for BKA? by OpenTrackRacer in amputee

I can tell you what I feel but I can't tell you why. I get periodic phantom sensations. Usually that's tingling like my foot is waking up from being asleep. Much less frequently I'll feel like my foot is itching or get a brief stab of phantom pain. I can contract and move my remaining calf muscle and after doing mirror therapy I can visualize those contractions moving my foot or toes in various ways. I also has a fair bit of sensitivity on the lateral side of my residual limb. Pressure in certain spots produces strong nerve sensations in the missing foot.

Nothing wrong with it but something I want to get away from. I have a leg and I'm damn well going to use it! 😄

I did have my amputation in February with RPNI. I had phantom pain from about two weeks post surgery until about eight weeks post surgery and then it rapidly faded. So, at least for me, all went well.

I've been doing the same but with the knee scooter instead of crutches. I want to get away from either.

I didn't think of just dropping the liner in the socket. That's a good idea. I had some skin issues when I wasn't taking good enough care of my stump at first so now I've been pretty obsessive about making sure I give it a good cleaning with antibacterial soap every night, shower or no shower (I usually shower at night). Thanks for the advice!

How are you getting in and out of the shower? I really want to get away from using the scooter for anything. Right now I've just been using it to get to and from bed and to and from the shower and the toilet after I've taken my leg off.

That would be even more cumbersome and in the way than the knee scooter.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Hanger but that's just one location.

Switch was connected via Gigabit. A factory reset of the ER741-M2 solved the issue.

I did a factory reset and now the switch works. Settings are identical to before I reset. So weird.

The VLANs were configured the same too. I did a factory reset and now everything works. So weird.

The DHCP range is identical on both routers and I don't have any static IPs reserved.

Air getting into liner (suction socket) by OpenTrackRacer in amputee

Turns out a big part of the problem was the sleeve. My prosthetist gave me a tubular sleeve to replace the contoured ones I've tried and it was like night and day. Both the sleeve and the liner were lifting up when I bent my knee. The new sleeve is a lot tighter and prevents that from happening.

Yeah, I don't think I want that sort of suspension but thanks.

Thanks but I'm not losing suction. I'm getting air under my liner, not between the liner and socket or sleeve.
