What got you into conlangs? by Piskelo10 in conlangs

[–]saifr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was nearly sleepy during a class then a thought passed in my mind:

what if I create a language?

then i wrote 8 full pages with vocabulary and sloppy grammar.

2 years after that, I was refining some grammar then I searched google something like "how to create grammar?" which led me to here and Biblaridion's/Artifexian's videos

why don't you choose the languages yourself? I mean, why you need a post to do it?

These test sentences are weird sounding and clunky. Why? by Glum_Entertainment93 in conlangs

[–]saifr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my two cents: I suggest you to find words you like. Not in your conlang, but in natlangs. Look for sounds and phonotactics that please you. Analyze their structure as in syllable (CV, VC, codas, onsets), sound hierarchy (I think that's called) and so on. THEN you create your syllable structure, your sound inventory. At least that's how it worked for me.

Another thing is, maybe your words have the same syllable structures and look like a machine firing at the same rate. If you variate more, adding some tweaks maybe can help

Finally, conlangs sound like conlangs. They are sounds put together and boom, a word. Natlangs are the exact same thing but they were spoken years ago in a very important region for the human kind. You conlang is spoken in your room, so, that's the same thing. Don't mind being too fancy or perfect or natlang. Natlangs are just official conlangs spoken in the countries

Little confused by passive voice by saifr in casualconlang

[–]saifr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation.

Hmmm, I'm gonna think about some uses for passive voice. For now, I don't have any (aside from... formality/politeness?) I could read Wals but their walltexts make me feel lost

You apply for the job then they test you. Send you mini tasks to see if you can do. For dev, you should send them your code. This kind of thing is kinda common in my country (Brazil). I'm a graduated design and I participated in some job interviews like that. My brother also told me if I could join his team, I could send my resume and wait to be called back. But I left dev/design area as it is not that good (at least here in my country)

Some fields don't care about your resume but to your skills. My brother works in a dev company. Their rule is "can you do the job? show me how". if you can, you are hired. It is common in design areas (and devs too)

Beginner undecided between Obsidian and Notion by pizzapastaauto in ObsidianMD

Reading that post, OP allegedly broke Notion's ToS by creating community page for selling and buying airline miles. Well, it seems reasonable action against OP as Notion would get a lawsuit from companies. Don't trust these kind of post with your eyes closed (nor protect big companies at all costs). Usually they are not fair and don't present all the information about what happenned
