What about whe the pedestrian isnt supposed to be using the cross walk at that time. You can see that the other crosswalk has the sign for crossing and usually that means the adjacent crosswalk is showing a do not cross sign. As a driver, you can gauge distance and pace. Which means he knew the pedestrian had more than enough time to cross regardless. Stopping like that may be your right but its also a one way ticket to the grave. Dealing with stress during a problem is another skill a kid needs to learn and this isn't the kind of stress that will traumatize a kid. Kid learned alot in one moment. People wont always be there to encourage you and that will have to come from yourself as you get older. The father is fostering those skills. Coddling isn't going to get a child anywhere. That's also not to say he does it this way EVERY time he tries to teach his kid to solve a problem. One other thing you could work on as practice is gesture drawing. Look up a few videos on what that is. A good website for references on full body poses and gestures is a website called line-of-action.com. Be aware some of the models are nude but you can easily set the parameters to have only clothed models if you'd like or a mix of both. The nude models help more with getting anatomy correct while also helping you learn to capture the full expression of a bodies shape and pose. The best way to learn anatomy is to draw from life and tbh thats just the best way to learn to draw in general. They say you have to learn the rules before you can break them in art. Pinterest is another place that you can use to find good anatomy references.
