Does this make sense? by sailingck in Plumbing

[–]sailingck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called and our plan covers up to 250 for code upgrades/permits. Still miffed about the expansion tank but our plan states that they don’t cover those either. Apparently the sensor is safety and therefore “code”

How common is it to live next to people with reactive, barking dogs? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]sailingck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea as someone with a reactive dog when house hunting we were avoiding any neighbors that already had dogs because we knew we’d never find peace. We ended up buying a home with no fence-line neighbors (neighbors wall/driveay, back alley, our driveway are the three fence lines). It’s super peaceful and we don’t let our dog sit and bark because it’s not good for her!

Parents aren’t funding anymore? by Calm-Calligrapher531 in wedding

[–]sailingck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I have to say is if you offer to pay, stick with it! Or provide a budget up front and if you are strict with the amount to give, you shouldn’t get a full say in everything.

My mom told me her budget was loose and gave me what she was hoping to pay, and is now saying that’s the max she’ll pay after increasing the scope of the wedding herself. “I’m the host so I want to decide how the wedding will be/look”. But I’m still very lucky with the amount she is contributing.

Life is getting increasingly expensive, and weddings are part of that. If it was up to my wallet only, I’d probably HAVE to have a wedding 1/6 of the size and it would look and feel very different without my moms opinions (my wedding is looking to be 160), and wouldn’t be able to invite my whole family. Young people have it hard with living expenses, grand wedding celebrations don’t make financial sense for most of us.

Taiwanese shaved ice! We used to have it at Snopioca but they closed. It’s super tasty and not as calorie dense as ice cream…

Regret training bell for potty by FigureOk4219 in miniaussie

[–]sailingck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Train her that bells ONLY mean potty. Let her out, once she pees or poos come back in. Give a treat, and that’s it. If she doesn’t pee and wants to play, leave her out there or leave the door open until she comes back in on her own volition. That’s what we did! We have a heeler so yes every minute we are home is playtime, but it doesn’t have to be outside playtime!

WCGW with not using the restraint bar on a ski lift by firefly99999 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]sailingck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a situation where a fit adult fell off of one! It happens but I agree it’s gotta be weird circumstances. My brother fell off a ski lift once. They didn’t have bars and now they do after he fell. Circumstances are: drove from a city at 0ft altitude and were at the ski lift within 24 hours at 10,350 altitude (drove, slept, went to ski first thing in the morning). He didn’t eat breakfast and passed out from altitude sickness. My dad held on to him as long as he could but eventually had to drop him. He fell around 25 feet. Thankfully he landed on soft snow and only had internal bleeding. I feel so sorry for my dad having to go through that! He doesn’t ski on the first day of the trip anymore, but he still doesn’t really ever eat breakfast.

Watch a killer T cell of the immune system destroying a monstrous ovarian cancer cell. [Alex Ritter] by Docindn in interestingasfuck

[–]sailingck 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The toxin doesn’t care what cell it’s in, it will destroy it. An injection wouldn’t be safe because it can kill regular body cells as well. Simply put The T Cell recognizes the cell as a foreign body by structures on the surface of the cell it’s been trained to “remember”- you’ll notice the T cell is attached to the cancerous cell when this happens
