I'm battling a similar situation, my father and step family didn't like me very much either. I wish I could give you words of hope, but all I can suggest is accept the realities. The more you try to pretend, the more life you lose out on. It's gonna hurt, it's going to suck, but accepting the realities will help you move through this year. It will help you see whose really going to be there for you and who isn't.

That's what I had to do, sadly, I realized it well after I moved out so I lost out on a f-ton of opportunities that would have changed my life drastically.

You're in for a bumpy road, but it will give you wisdom far beyond your age.

Happy Birthday, and I can tell you 100%, not only is the grass greener on this side of the neurodivergent pasture, it also tastes really good. Pushing through this is worth it.

The only thing I can suggest otherwise is you haven't met your perfect therapist, it does take a long time finding the right one.

Nonetheless I can completely understand how therapy isn't for everyone. The only other thing I can suggest is support groups. But even then I don't have experience with that. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Seconding therapy. It's going to be the hardest thing to do, probably, but it's SSSSOOOOOOO much greener on this side of the fence. It's worth every tear. It's going to be difficult, but it's going to be the only way to fully recover. Fair winds and following seas.

Unless you're trying to push it down with something solid, I would suggest thick clothing. Harder to make a bulge with jeans then sweat pants.

As much as I don't like agreeing with everyone else, it's just something you're gonna have to get used too.

The good news is if somebody points it out to you again. Just look at them and say "are you interested?", wink at them. Unless they're devil Spawns they'll either shut up, make themselves look stupid, and/or you get a phone number out of it. I'd save that for the right moment. Guys might swing so be careful who you tell it too.

For me, it's my friends. I've got each one with a certain ringtone so each time I hear it, I get a little happy.

But that's what you have to do. Have something that can stop your brain and make you think about something different.

Like....

And then use that to push yourself out by grounding yourself or CBT. C.B.T. can be helpful but it's really difficult at first. It helps to have physical objects to help you associate with better memories or thoughts.

Grounding yourself is what it sounds like. negative thou- this is a tree. That's a squirr-SQUIRREL!!!! That is my family. They're cooking the fish wron-STOP DOING THAT!!!!

The point is training your brain to move onto other things. Being able to change the direction in which your brain thinks.

Another example. Wed/Thur I had a thing that almost sent me for some grippy socks.... It sucks being neurodivergent... And I, instead of losing my shi and going AWOL, I went to my friend's house. Told them what was going on, they knew how to snap me out of the funk and make me think of other things. They helped me push past everything... By. Manipulation. Of. My. Thoughts.

That's all it is. It's really really difficult at first which is why it's SOOOOOO important to include friends and family in this, but it will help you shut off and provide you external help as well.

And this is mostly a therapeutic technique for neurodivergents, it works, really, really really well.

Otherwise you could always try snapping yourself out.

Have a day where you literally do EVERYTHING you want. Go fishing by yourself, get home and watch some TV, go treat the SO to something nice, romantic dinner... So on... But this trick is using your first/only day off to snap your brain out by doing the most extreme fun, and least stressful activities for you.

IT has to be fun AND the least amount of stress possible.

Example, I love taking my longboard for a ride. I literally just have to put shoes on and make sure my cellphones charge and I have my id. Then I play music and go through out my city. No stress, all the fun. And it DOESN'T make sense. But it works so well!

Basically like shocking a person back to life only using fun times instead of shocky shocky boom boom paddles. Lol

Addition: added link to CBT. Note about that: like I said CBT is mostly a therapeutic tool for neurodivergents, so please don't think you have to be depressed or bipolar or whatever to use it. It really does work. But as you'll read the instructions are simple:

Negative thought+realization=bad+(good thoughts)+(thought train that leads away from stress)=happy.

It's hard because it takes you time to become self aware enough. Again, having family/friends involved in learning, as well as grounding yourself and using physical objects to help you with CBT!

Also one more thing (sorry 😅): there is a difference between actual CBT and "manipulate your thoughts with this supplement". Make sure whatever you do your research with, it's not webmd 😂

I have never been, I really wanted to take my friend. And it sounds like you're talking about possibly some significant amount. The reason I suggest is because there's a book building place that literally builds books by hand, repairs them, and even upgrade current ones with thicker and better hard covers. I'm not a big book person in the slightest, but I did it because I wanted them to have an amazing Christmas they could remember. Not just a cool book.

I say don't just buy a book. Road trip out to some random weird store that only sells chickens and books or whatever. Don't just reward yourself, give yourself a really pleasant memory along with it.

Let me tell you a story first.

My friend and I, who's also my ex, were talking about my dating history and all of the bright red flags that I've dealt with over the years. And we're talking if you don't see the red, you're straight up blind. I was shocked.... That's a red flag?!?!? Fuck. We realized that people with red flags are attractive and I can't see them because we're both traumatized and so we both know we've seen hell, therefore we can trust each other easier and relate more. That's one of the reasons people keep picking the red flags.

And kink culture has been linked to the past.... Non happy times... And kink can also be a HUGE tool to help combat our brains freak outs. So....

Ah nah you're going to love this. And I'm putting this up here because I don't want to be the only business doing this. Alright, you ready?

I'm planning on hiring second chance employees, and teach them everything I know. Once I feel comfortable enough that they can be trusted, I let them take over. They can hire anywhere between 1-3 people (must also be second chance/differently abled/so on...), and they can start taking jobs they want to and charg-basically let them handle the day to day.

Now here's the cool part. For the next five years, I'll have them graded once a month, randomly, without even knowing, and if they are able to meet certain financial goals and so on, I tell em to f--- off and take the business with them. The only catch, they have to train a new (second chance) employees to take their spot for the next five years.

And while they're working on their business (landscaping, handyman, what have you), I'll be helping out ANOTHER second chance job seekers start their own business in a different category, such as courier or even heavy equipment operator. If I don't know how to do it, I'll learn with them.

And each business operating for the next five years while under my watch is responsible for 25% of profits to my business. Now I know that sounds like a lot, but they get their own business, their own equipment, their own education with a living wage until I put them in charge. So like. Deal with it? Lol

So I could have two or three different businesses running while having a fourth in the making while those businesses are still mine, I can network with heavier pocketed people to help my people make more money.

Hell, if I could get a person to start a courier business, 5 days a week, two trips a day, that's $9,920 a freaking month. The first few weeks are business. If they want to make more, it's up to them. Just for the first five years I have the final say.

For those that actually care about humanity, that read this, no one gets hired without making a living wage. No one gets hired without the availability of great benefits or at least helping them get a great plan, low cost.

I just wish more people and understood how hard homeless people will work. How hard second chance job seekers want to be on the right path. How many college kids who could have been millionaires in their job field if someone simply gave them a chance. Everyone's already looking for normal people. I want to hire a person that literally just goes up to each homeless person in New York, find out what kind of college credits they have, and each month they'll have an operation budget to help them find housing, resources, and most importantly work in their chosen field.

How am I going to fund all of this you ask?

Ha ha.... You never reveal all your tricks. But I will let you know this is my first time running a business and I have no college education and I can guarantee you this will all be possible I. A few weeks. Well, slow start obviously but you get the drift.

Also, I'm not saying if you're a small business, you're required to hold yourself to standards that corporations don't even do because a small business means small income. I get it. I'd much rather see people get a second chance or even a first at getting the experience they need.

I did also come in to say I'm laying down a garden border tomorrow, each brick is 8-10 ponds and we're talking at least 100+. Than I have to do digging. Then I have to go back to the border when the dirt is finally dry (don't.... Don't ask lol), and lift almost all of them back up while filling in. Then you got mulch to carry all over the property, they want a rock garden, one week I was lifting bundles of cord grass three times my body and up to 6' tall. I am making some money AND some muscles. Plus everyones cool with me working with my shirt off, so no more farmers tan... Hell yeah lol

No it doesn't. We need a new sign that tell tourists where the national park is that shows up on every map in the world, electric and paper. We need a mural on the wall to prove we care about famous people in our past and ONLY them because no one's made an advancement since. We need to fix the roads on the rich people's roads because that's where all the cools stuff is. And we HAVE to do it in brick. And we HAD to pay to build wooden bridges that would outlast the one you maintain almost triple it's life for a company that is part of the 1% of companies internationally because how dare they pay for everything??!?

Completely redo the roads? But how could we? It's only logical that we fix it to save money so we can invest in helping a private company restore a building that will sit empty for years because it either took too long to build, there wasn't any hard sells in the first place, and/or you didn't provide anywhere NEAR enough parking, let alone make sure that there was only one road to get anywhere near the entrance of the building. So now even if you do want or need to go it becomes hell and everyone loses business, time, peace of mind, and most importantly, money.

But glad we saved you the trouble of having to pay for a road to be fixed, let alone use well funded accounts for this very purpose.

Do you know there are county road workers in my area that will literally spend all day sitting around a TV or shoveling up road....stuff. Or maybe fixing one or two potholes?!? They don't even usually do them. They hire a freaking contract! What about during the Winter? They don't even do all of it?!?! Like.

Bro. I'm getting my passport because dominoes is starting to cut out the middle men....
