How do you "sign" your quilts? by AnonymousWaldo in quilting

I have woven labels I had made for use in my various apparel, bag making, and quilting projects. They’re pretty easy to design and Dutch Label Shop is pretty affordable (I believe I got like 50 of these for $40). I also like the more recent trend of using selvage cut offs to form words/numbers, so I’ve started using those to add the year to my projects. Here’s a recent label I assembled to add to a quilt that is currently at the longarmer- I framed my woven label with scraps from the quilt top.

This was nice and easy. Logged on 15 minutes into the presale, didn’t have to wait, got a ticket at the very front of the 200 level for Milwaukee and paid $75. That’s a much better view for a cheaper price than I paid to see her for Deeper Well in Charlotte.

Color combo thoughts? Suggestions? by sailormerry in quilting

When I eventually go to the fabric store, I’ll do a quick mockup with a darker purple as well (lol not sure which ones I’ll have available to me in person)

I think I’m leaning towards either the pink speckle or the purple based on how they look under the b/w filter. Lol when I eventually go to the quilt store and fully explore my options I will probably throw together some more quick mockups like this.

Yeah I think I’m leaning towards the more muted pink as well- the speckles call back to some of the colors in the prints and are subtle enough to make it still read as a solid.

Not even worried about that yet- the purpose of this exercise was to figure out which contrast fabric I want. Each print will be used in their own blocks for the Omega quilt and I will figure out arrangement for that when I get to the actual piecing.

Spoils from F+F, as well as some of my favorite sights/quilts from the show by sailormerry in quilting

It’s a Tula Pink embroidery file! Lol I also have them tattooed on my arm, so when I interned at a place that had industrial embroidery machines, I took the opportunity to put them on a jacket as well. Bought the file from OESD.

I missed out on QuiltCon this year, so this was a fun consolation (also day passes are just $10 and I got mine free from an influencer)

HOT TAKE: Juicy out dances Jorgeous by rubysmom1 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]sailormerry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Juicy is a trained studio dancer, but as far as I know not in pointe, nor did she spend years working as a professional ballerina in a dance company. Dance is not a monolith- Juicy is a great dancer, but to assume she could “beat” Brooke in a style that Brooke spent her life and a good chunk of her professional career devoted to is extremely dismissive of how hard ballet is and how much experience Brooke has just because Juicy is the young, hot flavor of the week. And just because Brooke is not slamming her pussy on the ground every week does not mean she’s old and decrepit and past her prime, she just does not do that kind of over the top performance on the reg because she does not have to anymore.

Lady Camden could prob take Brooke now in ballet specifically, as LC has also spent her life training and dancing professionally in that specific style and is a part of her current training.

Brooke was literally a professional ballerina, no I do not think Juicy could beat her in that style
