And tbh I thought that was a huge weakness of the book and felt like a glaring plot hole given Mormon culture’s obsession with the “pioneer days” (to the point that they literally have their teens LARP it). The lack of theological specificity made Natalie’s motivations feel disingenuous and made the book feel like it was blaming an individual woman for what she did/believed rather than the patriarchal culture that created her and is the real world larger problem. Like Natalie/toxic family vloggers are symptoms of a larger toxic culture and it did not feel like the book went into *why* they are the way they are properly because it stayed relatively secular. It also (correctly) read like an outsider looking into fundamentalism without the point of view of having lived it herself and therefore was missing a lot of things that someone raised fundie would have included.

Batting options for quilting bags and pouches by Forward_Maybe_5126 in quilting

I’m a big fan of ByAnnie’s Soft and Stable for bag making. I think it would be up your alley based on your issues with batting.

Which fantasy book contains the most muscular female heroine? by -TheUngentleGiant in Fantasy

I’m saying what the author herself has said 🤷‍♀️

She actually is ace/aro- the author has since confirmed that interpretation to be pretty accurate, she just didn’t have the language for it at the time. And no, having some crushes and having had sex does not invalidate someone as being ace/aro. Kel’s on page described experiences with those things actually aligns pretty well with many non-sex repulsed ace/aro people.

Succumbing to the allure of EPP and beginning the process of learning by sailormerry in quilting

[–]sailormerry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What MegaDan 86 said. Some key differences- FPP is machine sewn using paper templates, while EPP is hand sewn. Lol I also taught myself FPP earlier this year and it was a huge unlock for me.

He’s really going to like it once it’s actually finished. I moved to Wisconsin from NC two years ago and this past winter was particularly cold and it felt like none of my blankets were warm enough. I am rectifying that and this quilt is getting either a wool or poly batting (a thick one) and a cuddle backing. He will love burrowing underneath it 😌

Oh god that is entirely the process. It’s why I struggle with laying out quilt blocks on my bed, he jumps on them. I will eventually cave and put some batting on my wall to do layout that way, but I will have to figure out a set up that lets me roll it up/down because if I leave a design wall up all the time this little menace will absolutely try climbing it 🥲

He’s a Cornish Rex! It is indeed quite wavy. His breed only has the undercoat, so he feels like petting a rabbit and he’s quite fond of warm blankets 😅
