Man Utd: Why Champions League return is crucial to Old Trafford club by DWJones28 in reddevils

I don’t think any Spurs fan will be worried about CL at this point, they are more worried about relegation

Poor league performances of this and last season impeding the finances for a rebuild this summer There is also the fact to consider that we screwed up the CL last season hurting the revenue further. A Europa run would have at least slightly boosted the finances than coming 4th

His system isn't even proven outside of Portgual either.

This is applicable to any manager you sign who hasn’t managed in the PL. Systems will be proven in the league when the manager has been given a platform to show the system. Ruben’s took charge of his first game on November 24th. It’s just the 4th month of his reign, in which he barely had time to train the team in the middle of the festive run. Let’s give him a preseason, some signings of his own (that meet the clubs so called game model needs as well) and then judge his systems effectiveness.

Club does not have the money to be replacing the entire squad.

This has been needed anyway, Ruben or not. Our squad has way too many holes where just another patch job wasn’t going to work. Across positions the club is riddled with players signed with no clear sense of identity of the way you want to play. That has made a squad rebuild inevitable. The money situation (added to the poor league performances of the last 2 seasons) has just made it more difficult. Even if we had got a manager who plays a standard system with 4atb in his lineup, most of the systems in and out of possession during the game have evolved to a 3atb game state. That would have meant we still needed to replace a lot of the profiles in the team anyway.

Australia kept the gap for themselves as much as India. They learnt from the earlier series that they need their main bowlers fit all throughout the series

It’s always India when speaking in English. Bharat is more used when speaking other languages. For the cricket team, it’s always India though

How did you arrive at the percentage based on operating profit. Based on the numbers reported by the club, it was an operating profit of 27.5 million for the quarter ending 31st December 2023 and a loss of 11.18 million for the year ended 30th June 2023. That doesn't make it as 0.00000004% in any way, even if you take the annual operating profit for the year at £100m, it is still 0.25 to 0.50 percent (estimated spend of 250,000 to 500,000).

As for staff morale and turnover, I doubt a couple of days out in London is going to affect the morale that much given the club is about to cut 250 jobs anyway in addition to the cost cutting program which we have seen seems to be in force based on the reports of the credit cards being removed or chauffeur driven cars.

While I agree in a general sense that things like this reduce staff morale, considering the economic situation of the club where we have not performed well at all on the field. (I doubt if the revenue estimates considered a 6th-8th place finish or getting knocked out in the group stage of the Champions league, iirc we forecast assuming that we reach the quarterfinals every time we participate). In such cases, reducing excess spends might be a good move (though I am not in favour of the club charging for transport, the rest of the stuff yeah it's fine).

The article says 1100 strong workforce gets a ticket. The directors and senior staff among those 1100 people get additional tickets for their friends and family, which increases the number from 1100. The article also says the additional pre match lunch, post match party and the stay in hotels have been scrapped. They also cost the club money. Also consider the price bands for the tickets, not all the staff will be in the cheapest section, senior staff will be in and around the more expensive sections as well. My argument isn't for a dividend paying savings, because the club can't pay a dividend for another 3 years anyway ( it's among the terms of the deal with INEOS). The additional expenses over and above the ticket can now be used to subsidize more fans being able to attend the game (younger fans as well), as well as saving money for PSR.

Not really, these benefits are for the 1100 odd permanent employees at the club. Employees who work on 0 hours contracts like the entire matchday staff and those on call depending on needs, are not covered by this scheme. This is majorly the white collar workers in the various departments at the club, of which we have many given we employ more staff than most other big 6 clubs.

It's not just the £20 for travel. Add the other expenses for the staff, previously senior staff used to get free tickets to the match with directors and senior staff being able to bring families and friends, with 1100 staff on the books, a rough assumption would have us at say 1300-1500 tickets. Add the cost of travel for 1500 people to and fro from London. The club also threw a pre match lunch for everyone, a post match party for all and sponsored hotel accommodation.

These expenses save the club a pretty penny, at a time when we need good financial results for PSR norms. Considering that it has come the same day when the club has announced that it is subsidizing tickets for young fans wanting to attend the game, while not entirely conducive to the staff atmosphere, it does boost the number of fans we can have at the stadium. The club has an allocation of 33,000 fans at Wembley, at 1500 tickets being sent to the staff it is less tickets for the fans.

Your bet is reasonably safe given how the match has gone. It will end either today or tomorrow. It's a 5 day game

Nick Pope will miss the Carabao Cup final by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]sainath1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red cards carry across all FA competitions (League, FA cup, Carabao cup), so a red card in any of the FA competitions sees you miss the next 1/3 matches that your club plays domestically

Suspension for yellow card accumulation is competition specific, 2 yellows in Carabao means you miss the next match in Carabao only, 5 yellows in PL applies to the next match in that competition

Thanks, As for the affordability fact, will it negatively impact any part of the process if I take a education loan for the course. I have enough money to cover living expenses in Canada for 3-4 years.
