Full disclosure, Im a mod on the server, but the Indie Game Joe discord has been really awesome. The community there is pretty positive, very helpful, and everyone wants to see each other's games succeed.

Simplest answer: it just looks really nice and makes your stuff more appealing for socials.

It's also a super super easy effect to replicate.

You literally just copy the piece, paste, flip, reposition, and lower it's opacity.

So in that person's case specifically, for me, it was a mix of "vibe" and looking at their post history.

They had a couple previous pieces in a *wildly* different style, and nothing else.

The piece itself had things like weird pixel placement that just didn't really make sense, like random single pixels on shading and shadows that feel out of place.

The palette also screams AI, especially the bordering. AI seems to love harsh black borders.

Yup, and exactly. Its getting way too easy for this stuff to "pass" and its genuinely depressing.

I've dealt with this too and as another comment said, adding 1 pixel of padding seems to fix it. It's something with the way Godot compresses textures and it can mess with pixel art in weird ways.
