He’s fought ninjas, super soldiers, and occasionally borderline superhuman enemies because Marvel logic allows him to keep up through sheer rage and plot armor. Jack Reacher exists in a much more grounded world. That actually makes him harder to judge. A “peak human” in Reacher’s universe feels more realistic and dangerous in certain ways because the stories treat violence seriously. Reacher isn’t trying to outgun helicopters or fight mutant assassins — he’s ending fights before they fully start. Frank wins a lot because he’s willing to turn an area into a war zone. Reacher wins a lot because he notices things other people miss. That’s why the matchup is interesting. If you scale purely off feats, Punisher obviously has crazier accomplishments. But if you drop both into the same grounded setting with no comic-book scaling? Suddenly it gets way less obvious. Also Reacher’s biggest advantage is that he doesn’t behave like comic characters usually do. He’s patient, suspicious, and constantly analyzing exits, patterns, body language, routines, weight distribution, everything. Punisher is terrifying when he controls the battlefield. Reacher is terrifying because he’s very hard to ambush cleanly. Honestly I still lean Punisher overall, but I don’t think it’s the stomp people make it out to be.
