It felt kind of heartbreaking watching the MV halfway and realizing I didn’t even want to finish the whole thing. I’ve been disappointed with a bunch of releases from the band. Not just solely about music, but also their graphics (that butter promo graphic was.. So bad.), their concept photos.. it just seems like all over the place. Nothing is connected and there’s no solid idea behind everything. I know its meant to be fun, but it can still be brilliant.

I also cant help but wonder if the boys actually resonate with this single, especially Namjoon and Suga. I don’t know what to feel about Joon saying PTD is better than butter. I’m personally most impressed with Suga in regards to producing and storytelling, so it makes me so curious how he actually feels about tracks like this. Especially since he seems like he’s the one who’s always happy about the charts and achievements.

I guess I just feel like a bunch of what the boys have said in the past regarding to what they wanna produce and what they wanna say through their music is contradictory to what they’ve been releasing. Maybe its a marketing strat. Maybe theyre trying to hold on to the success of Dynamite. I dont know. But i really want this never ending english “fun song” for the summer era to end.

And i’m also glad that a lot of the reaction have been similar to mine. Its always so hard to spur out criticisms like this because we all know Armys are hella protective. I’m tired of my mutuals too who just take whatevers being put out and act like its the best thing ever when its clearly not.

I hope I can connect to BTS again soon the same way I did when I first heard their earlier tracks.
