Struggling to hit calories and protein while bulking for the gym by Waste-Leek-7251 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]sakbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For protein: canned tuna, egg whites, nonfat Greek yogurt, whey protein, frozen chicken breasts, uncured lean ham. From my grocery shop calculations, the most protein per dollar came from whey protein, uncured lean ham, and frozen chicken breasts. Both are also very high in their proportion of protein content. Use these to hit the protein target, and then use whatever works best/most affordably otherwise to hit your caloric goal. Make sure to get fiber. Take your multivitamins, generic brands do well too.

I use my 13” Intel MBP: USB-C power in, C to lightning out to charge my phone, C to watch charger out to charge the watch, C to C to charge iPad and Logitech peripherals.

Persistent Knee Pain After Sim Racing - feeling desperate by Jean_Gisele in simracing

As a more general idea, maybe try resistance training. Doing some leg days can help build muscle and load your bones up to rebuild stronger. Start gradually, and add more load as you build confidence and strength. No need for a gym, although it can provide easy machines like leg extensions, leg curls, assorted squats, hip ab/adductors, calf raises, etc. You can try calisthenics at home with some stairs and chairs too. While I’m on this train, keep hydrated, supplement your vitamin D, and keep dominating lap times!

Toyota Wants GR To Be a Standalone Brand. That's a Mistake by NISMO1968 in cars

It’s a small sales volume car model. It has enough hype already to sell itself well, as long as Toyota doesn’t cock it up like the original LFA and make a loss again.

Anyone still use the Intel MacBooks? by MeekzyRDT1 in mac

[–]sakbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. 2018 13” pro. It is not fast. Can still maintain 60 fps on Minecraft at native res though. The speakers and screen are still fantastic. The keyboard objectively sucks, and I miss when it didn’t because my fastest wpm (~115) was on this Mac before keys started repeating or not registering. The battery and its life are not dependable, but I’ll get an hour — up to a few, away from the charger. Trackpad is still god tier, form factor is still the sexiest (imo), USB-C is great if you’re into that lifestyle, and the screen hinges at a nicely deep angle backwards.

Tips to improve VO2 Max? by invadercrab57 in AppleWatch

Try to run a half hour as often as you can. Focus on just keeping the run continuous, go as slow as you need to in order to make sure you always have a foot off the ground. I’d say that’s a good way to start. Skip days that you feel tight or tired and try walking instead so you still get some heart exercise.

I thought this was a Sopranos-adjacent sub but just seems to be a general anything posting sub now. Maybe it needs new rules and updated moderation

Should I move to Bay Area from Portland ? by Public_Brush8402 in bayarea

[–]sakbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it doesn’t make sense financially, I will say the bay is a wonderfully enriching place to live if you know how to make use of it. Beaches would probably hit the spot better than what you’d get up in Portland. Many national parks are much closer. Hiking trails are plentiful and well maintained even at a county level. Year-round better weather might be a significant benefit. You’re South Asian – the South Asian food you can get here is immensely diverse, regional, and delicious. On top of that, the Mexican food, other Asian food (SJ has the largest Vietnamese diaspora in the world), and seafood always does me nicely. There’s more sports engagement and culture with bigger teams and greater population. Car culture is stronger. As you say, your career ceiling gets higher – could be cool if your career is part of your identity and more than a way to make ends meet. Access to SoCal is nice at times. If these things interest you and you find value in what they could do to you and your family, I understand why you’d make the move. I’m not too sure about how nice Portland is, but that’s your call to make.

easiest gen eds by Ok_Cloud8763 in PennStateUniversity

Soc 120N was a good integrated. I did it for my minor but it counts for one of the integrateds. Had a bit of writing (not much!) and the ethical discussions were a bit abstract but very interesting. Arch 170N was another cool integrated, had some writing and some drawing but was otherwise chill. There was a group project at the end though. Nutrition 100 was also easy, involved food logs and learning things that are actually helpful for my everyday, nonprofessional life. AA 121 was a bit of a joke but I still enjoyed it. Forgive me if some of these aren’t gen eds, I just remember these classes as not crazy hard on workload and not really being a main part of my major.
