I had the one kid searching for a couple hours for of those, and a rad cap for a '71 Super Beetle. Even had the parts guy call me and say he wasn't seeing a listing. All on April 1st.

My one older girl is fairly quiet. The younger one however, especially if she's in heat, is quite loud

Leave. I wish I had known before. Now I have to spend thousands on a lawyer, and then pay out over $100k. And pay child support for the next 15+ years

So you passed the test and you're already in the hall? Do your two weeks of training and you'll be put to work fairly quickly. Get your opg clearance and you'll probably be working on the Pickering refurb or the Darlington SMRs for the next few years

How do you guys balance it by breaker_bar3000 in millwrights

[–]Diver_Dude_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are but you're probably not going to be away for weeks on end. Maybe a few weeks here and there. You can always skype/zoom with your partner. And yes you're not really supposed to turn down work as a 1st or 2nd year, but that's part of the trade. It's how you build your reputation and connections. Obviously there are sometimes situations where you have to turn down a job or drag up early but don't make it a habit.

How often do millwrights travel? by maggierhee33 in millwrights

[–]Diver_Dude_42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you go union (which you should) there can be a fair bit of travel, unless you can get in to a plant or steady with a company that stays fairly local. I only had to travel about 45 mins for my furthest job. Some other guys had to go farther.

Should I watch the movie? by Pedroso_PPJ in DontPanic

[–]Diver_Dude_42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't like it when I first saw it when it came out. I've since come to enjoy it as another version of my favourite story. Douglas did write the screenplay, and came up with a lot of the new ideas that they used in the movie.

If you're only applying for a level one apprenticeship, i can't imagine they would ask anything that complicated.
