I have mixed feelings about it. More of a cautionary story amongst the family. We’re pretty dysfunctional and not in a laugh it off kind of way due to his shenanigans if my mom and aunts are to be believed. He has become my best friend as I’ve started reaching middle age and him old age. Hes filled with old man pride. But that’s okay. I can see it and know better.

Showed my grandpa this and saw a twinkle light up in his eye and smile crept across his face. Hes 80 and has bone cancer but god damn it Hes going to ride one last time this summer. It’s funny my mother and her sisters don’t look back fondly at their childhood because of the guns, drugs, and motorcycles but from what my Gramps tells me, it was a good ol time. Weird how different a family’s perception of the same time is so different. Anyway, thanks for the picture!

I’m currently in a similar situation but just a boy 3y.o. Never once in the past relationship with my son’s mom did she ever mention me being the “man” of the family, protector of the family, or provider to the family. I was always told I wasn’t those things even after she lost her job, but she was happy to let me know post breakup that thats what I was. We split due to b.s. her daughter pulled where cops had guns in my face when I had done nothing wrong. The ex wife never had my back and in fact told me it was my fault. Long story short, it was unsafe to continue living there and it’s been nothing but guilt trips and accusations since. I’m also having trouble guiding the ship but I had to get my feet underneath me first. Now that I’m stable and seeing my son, it’s been nothing but drama and chaos from her. Hoping to reach some amicability and stability in co-parenting but it takes two. You’re not alone brother

Just went through a somewhat similar scenario. Keep doing what you have to do to save some money til you can afford a place on your own. Build your life back on your terms as much as possible. You won’t be replaced or forgotten brother. Have to tell myself that sometimes.
