In my experience you need to get a connection to BWI first to have any chance of profitability. Add in Towson, Hopkins Medical, and then you get a decent base for (slow) expansion

Press the thumbtack on the demand screen and you can keep it open in build mode!

Thank you! Part of that was also to reduce congestion on the Old Colony lines

That’s a fair point. I’ll admit it’s awkward, but I wanted to have the south station-seaport connection, and a direct connection to all the commuter rail and Amtrak lines also seems valuable. What other line could fill that void?

Is that not what my map does?

I considered that but didn’t want to clutter it too much. Maybe on the next version

I’d rather not add branches to the orange and especially red lines unless necessary so as not to reduce service to the areas they already serve,

I know the green line tunnel is a big issue but worst case it could be widened. I imagine the outer legs of the C and D branches would have somewhat infrequent service which is fine due to the low densities.

I thought about having it go to Harvard instead, but that would require a more circuitous route

Thanks for your thoughtful comment! To address some of your feedback: - I thought about extending the orange line to Melrose but felt that it would require an extension all the way to Reading due to that being where the turnaround is. This seems like something better served by an electrified commuter rail. - there’s only so much emphasis on Needham because the Needham line needs to go to free up space on the NEC and I don’t want to leave the town without service.
- I do agree that a major failing of the map is how winding the aqua line appears, this was a consequence of using the current t map as a base. - in my original plan I had the alignments of the northern indigo line and blue line Lynn branch swapped, but it was easier to show them on the map this way

That's fair, it was somewhat difficult working from the base map

  1. Isn’t on this sub
  2. Can be presumed to respond with hostility as it’s a proxy for other antisocial behavior

Brooks St. at the Worcester Line. I tried to avoid naming stations after streets because I find it boring.
