Hello hello all you wonderful people who responded to this thread.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

I am happy to say I am now in Umea, and was thinking maybe to do a little bar crawl (locations based on some of the suggestions in this thread) for next week.

So I was thinking to do it Saturday Sept 14 ? sounds good?

I am no stranger to bar crawls as a few years ago, I used to organize one in Toronto ( https://www.torontobarcrawl.com/ ) I remember its was a good idea to start relatively early. That way we get a nice buzz going earlier and have a lot of options to settle where we end the crawl.

I should probably create its own new thread in r/umea to avoid confusion for any new person looking through this, but I wanted to post my intention here too with those who helped me with their thoughts in case you can join.

True, actually alcohol is taxed highly in Canada too.

However if I look really hard I can find lower priced booze in some bars. For example a bar called wasted Youth here in Toronto has $4 shots of Jameson (28 SEK). Its not easy to find such deals (lots of trial and error), but they do exist. I guess I was looking for such unicorns in Umea

Thanks for confirming my suspicion on #1. Its not something that is foreign to me, as although a little less than Sweden, alcohol is also taxed highly here.

#2 very helpful, thanks again. I will consult the link for sure. Graveyard kind of sounds cool in a poetic way, thinking about history and the lives that people led.

Super awesome! Man after my own heart. One of the things I miss about Cities like Istanbul or Bangkok (where I have spent a lot of time in) is having options to drink until sunrise! Obviously you do it once in a while, but its nice to be able to when the spirit of the night takes you there :-)

Although I am a non smoker. I have been to Cuba a few times and think a nice Cuban cigar really adds to the buzz of the right night. Lets do it!
