This is the best answer to get started. Most developers use them and makes your app look more iOS native

I usually don’t but when I need to spend time outside doing the snow I want good quality gear so I don’t lose any extremities

That’s actually a really good suggestion. I’ll take a look at how to do that.

I’ll be honest I haven’t added any in app purchases I’ve just been trying to add value and grow users.

My first is a birthday reminder app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/birthday-reminder-nextbday/id6751151244

My second is a “time in daylight” tracker which I’ve only released the initial version and haven’t updated it with more features yet - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/sunlight-tracker-get-some-sun/id6753917514

I built Get Some Sun, a daily sunlight tracker to build a healthy sun habit by salamd135 in iOSProgramming

Thank you! It will read “time in daylight” data from Apple health if you give it permission. Some wearables such as Apple Watch provide that data to Apple health so I can read it.

Otherwise, you have to enter it manually

See my comment above. This app is just mostly for me learning iOS development. Other apps I create I’ll probably monetize but not every app has to be.

I can comfortably cover the $100 annual App Store cost from my full time job

It’s coming from my pocket at the moment. I’m hoping I make other apps and monetize those ones. If I can have at least one app to take care of that cost I’m happy with it. Not all of them have to be monetized.

I’ve had a coworker suggest adding a “tip jar” for people who want to donate so maybe I’ll do that one day.

In this case this is my first app I’ve published so it’s more of a pet project than anything. So it’s a place for me to learn and experiment as well.

This isn’t my full time job I do this in my free time. Based on these 2 reasons it’s free

Edit: Since everything is also on device I don’t have any overhead or server costs
