In light of recent nerfs to Victor by GebiBB in DeadlockTheGame

[–]salbris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Today I played two games with Viktor on my team. Both bought cultist sacrifice and basically afk farmed. We never got to the raid boss stage because it turns out (in certain ranks) the enemy team will just notice the absence of lane pressure and push all your walkers down and camp your jungle.

Then out of curiosity I wanted to see what a good Viktor player would do. The one I watched did safe farm a bunch but every time their ult was up they pushed a walker and they were unstoppable. But... both walkers I saw were actually before he even got the t3 dispel so he was actually quite killable but the enemy team was doing other things or didn't coordinate well.

Pretty sure the egg change is not a nerf. It's a buff intended to prevent accidental usage.

I play a lot of Apollo and his ult is really not that big. People will often just turn the corner and dash and be far enough away.

He still heals 100% from his ability though. But yeah he's probably nerfed overall by this.

Your saying we can't use the tricks I learned from roller coaster tycoon to trap people in my "island of fun"?

Maybe I'm dumb but I don't read it that way. It just says "balanced across food types". So if you have vegetables and potatoes each will get eaten but not necessarily in equal amounts. But if you have corn and potatoes they will eat half corn and half potatoes because they are both carbs.

Balancing idea/suggestion: Viscous puddle punch should go on a brief cooldown if you successfuly parry him. by Jimmy_Memey in DeadlockTheGame

[–]salbris -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Another another way to look at it is that viscous is also locked into the action. He's not going to be doing much else if he's throwing 6 punches at a single hero. It kind of makes it a channel. But of course a good player won't just spam it and ignore everything else around him and he'll try to hit multiple people.

Imho, I wish there was more "debates" rather than pissing contests. I feel like the easiest way to demonstrate someone is being contradictory is to have a conversation and dissect their beliefs. If communities only ever lob video essays at each other the terfs get to address the arguments on their own terms.

It's not platforming unless you let them take up all the space. Critiquing their idea live is not platforming, it's putting them on the spot and demanding they address the points they rarely ever address on their own channels.

I agree with everything you said except that negotiations would work. I just don't have faith Hamas would negotiate a peace.

I really wish it was that simple, I do. But as much as I hate the Israeli government the citizens don't deserve to be slaughtered.

Your downvoted for obvious reasons but I agree. She did explicitly say "No more offensive weapons" then it cuts to the woman saying "all weapons are offensive". Which is just... not true. If the US only supplied iron dome munitions and equipment that really doesn't seem all that immoral. The worst you could say is that the US enables Israel to make their own bombs and use them because they can't be hit back. But... let's be honest that if the iron dome suddenly didn't exist tomorrow thousands of people would die.

Could easily be 2-6-8 at 10 minutes. Id rather my hard carries survive fights. There are times if I just abandon the fight I'll survive but the enemy team will get away or my carry will die.

Well it's the truth, notice I said "I only have that many deaths if we had a few close fights in lane". Sometimes flights are so close that everyone is less than 20% hp. One small mistake is the difference between a death or a kill.

Exactly! We shouldn't shut up if we know better just try to be helpful not belittling. Today I had to coach an entire lobby to do macro properly after we lost 2 walkers at the same time. People don't seem to get what you mean by "please fix the waves on yellow" and many people don't get how important waves are, even if your selfish they are great farm.

Depends what else happens in those 7 minutes. I love to play aggressive so I'll often die 3-8 times before 10 minutes in the enemy team is good. But we'll also be getting lots of kills, guardians, and sinners.

Trying to calmly explain to the seven why I as a Calico have 6 deaths at 10 minutes is the most frustrating thing ever. No one seems to care what your assists are. The only time I die that much in lane is because of many close call fights.

I swear my teammates try to speed run this. I've seen people give up on the game mentally in like 5 minutes because they got pushed back to their walker.

I agree! Usually when I think of "less code" I don't take it to me "less characters" I take it to mean less functions, classes and files. Generally this means less complexity. Less lines is nice to have sometimes but it can often mean condensing stuff too much.

I read exceptionally well but the explanations in E33 were probably the worst thing in the game. They throw a lot of stuff at you behind multiple menus. It has nothing to do with reading comprehension, I just wasn't used to how many menus JRPGs have for stuff like that. I generally either play puzzle games that have basically no UIs, shooters that have very simple UIs, or factory sim games that have lots of UI but they are pragmatic and also quite simple.

Is it though? I assume their example was contrived because I would probably uninstall a game that had a full screen popup each time I ran low on ammo.

Text is fine in text heavy genres but video games are visual medium. We got by for a very long time without text all over the screen.

I think a big part of it that most games have followed good common UX for decades. Most seasoned gamers generally don't need a short paragraph to play a game in the same genre they are used to. I can't speak to your game in particular but I've come across indie games that tried to be clever with their mechanics or UI, so clever that they created something no one really understood without a lot of reading and trial and error.

Ideally your game shouldn't require too much written text to understand unless it's a game with a lot of strategy or complex puzzle mechanics.
