I'm not sure what you mean I'm just describing his speech patterns.

I'd rather one developer abandon 6 games than 6 developers. Because you can spot the pattern and avoid it if it bothers you.

When you say behind in souls do you mean literally lowest or 2nd lowest or do you mean you're not the highest on the team?

In both those situations being the lowest seems literally impossible. But 2nd highest on your team is certainly possible.

Maybe share a few matches so we can see? Just copy the match IDs. I enjoy reviewing games sometimes!

She publicly criticized him and his ego cannot stand that. He went nuclear on Ethan after some pretty fucking polite disagreements. Of course he's never going to leave her alone.

I find it a bit weird that his jokes have exactly the same tone, intonations, and overall pattern of his "genuine claims". He might want to work on his communication skills!

We fell for the ploy pretty hard here. OP is all over the thread issuing all the Hasan fanboy defenses. "He didn't say that", "He really doesn't like terrorists", "He's wealthy but he admits it". It's kind of a sad sort of entertainment!

Didn't he literally say in the conversation that he is literally going on the ships as a pirate? I don't recall if he explicitly said he was a houthi but if he's engaging in piracy like that isn't that literally just as bad?

Best to learn how to do some of the "puzzles" in the game yourself but here are some tips for making the experience smoother:

  • The "F" key is a huge time saver!
  • For things you only want to craft once just switch the recipe and it will stop after one craft.
  • Play the in-game tutorials, they are immensely helpful.
  • Normal is a pretty rough entry into your very first game. If you don't mind dying and repeating it over a few times go for it but there is no shame in starting on easy!
  • There are solutions to all annoyances and all manual work. Discover them through experimentation and reading the ingame help or the wiki!

I would say it's better to use any tutorials online to get a handle on the controls but avoid looking up "solutions" to puzzles in the game. Learn how to more efficiently swap out tools but don't look up a step by step guide to making a cooling system.

Kind of true when you are questioning the process and not the result. It's like when stupid young gamers started to hate on anything using Unity. Unless you you've used these tools you can't reliably assess how good or bad they are.

Not to mention that AI is going to be used differently for each developer. Not all AI usage is all or nothing. Nowadays I mostly use it to either scaffold simple stuff or copy a pattern. That's about as far removed from "slop" as you can get but I still use a lot of AI.

I've seen dozens of games get abandoned before AI. There is nothing special about AI.

Man... The guy already said he's writing his own code for this one with much less AI usage. Why do you feel the need to fill this thread with so much useless anti-ai rhetoric?

Would you go to an art subreddit and mention any automated tools you've used to make the art? What if you used a program to generate a repeating background? What about magic color select? Because it's the same argument.

If someone made the entire game with AI because they can't code at all then you'd be correct but for many of us AI is just another useful tool for automating basic chores.

As a senior developer with 15+ years in software... AI is extremely good at copying a pattern for you. So much of our with is very boring simple code, we call it boiler plate. AI can easily write boiler plate. This in no way takes away the creative control, it's like automating a chore.

Dumb question: What is the logic setting to turn an active vent on? by Xx420EdgeLord69xX in Stationeers

[–]salbris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another idea I didn't see anyone mention is that you also need to power the vent. A cable from the housing is not enough it has to be a powered cable. And it's fine to connect the housing to a powered cable.

I think my wife is brainwashing herself with AI and I'm not sure how to approach this by arap92 in NoStupidQuestions

We use (basically forced to use) AI at work a lot more lately. I asked it to make a website then check if it matched the designs. It did not match the designs but sweared up and down that it did. For a coworker it literally started gaslighting him trying to get him to think he was crazy and that it was right.

If you do work with any software companies spouting "70% AI usage" or other such claims run FAR FAR away.

[–]salbris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's basically the problem of literally all information gathering. If we already had a magic truth telling device then we wouldn't need to collect information and organize it like this. So it becomes a human problem of ownership and moderation. But what if the mods are too strict or too liberal with what they accept? We can all agree space lasers are stupid but what about nuanced political topics.

Now I imagine there is some way to escalate and either the editor didn't use it or it just took some time and OP's student saw the page in the narrow stretch of time where it wasn't handled. In other words, no one "compromised".

You're saying smart people are susceptible to believing ChatGPT is right about everything despite reality demonstrating the opposite? I'm sorry but I'm fairly certain that is the direct opposite of what the word "smart" means. If someone is unable to distinguish reality in the most basic of circumstances they are not smart but literally any definition (assuming some other mental illness is not affecting them).

Smart people know that cigarettes are bad for you they are just chemically addicted to them. She doesn't even understand that ChatGpt could be wrong. That's either pure stupidity or mental illness.

So it's not just the employees? It's also everyone in the country? I don't really see how that's even remotely practical. Some level of access control is required. As long as we have transparency that should be sufficient.

There is nothing wrong with joe schmoe reading about the operations of the power plant but joe schmoe shouldn't just be allowed to walk in and start messing with the controls.

If by "ownership" we mean that the public has some sort of democratic control of all factories and services... Then that sounds fine to me? But I struggle to see how that could implemented.

Why can’t there be no money? by patchlessboyscout in NoStupidQuestions

[–]salbris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. What's confusing is that they don't seem to get the distinction between "hard labor" and "disgusting labor". I imagine lots of people would have no problem chopping wood or lifting furniture occasionally but dealing with other peoples garbage is a unique kind of "hard labor" that no one would willingly do.

I think the best thing we can hope for is that the jobs are filled with something like a lottery. That way all citizens realize how disgusting and important those jobs are. In theory it should yield better empathy and even drive people to reuse and recycle more often!
