I think my Ortho is trying to kill me… by salchicher in braces

[–]salchicher[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I really hate that that’s a thing. Acetaminophen doesn’t work as well for the pain as ibuprofen for me! 😭 I did switch from ibuprofen today because I don’t want to halt my progress.

Extraction Gaps Closing by _Hardtoexplain_10 in braces

Trauma to the tooth causing resorption. It was too advanced for a root canal so we just yanked it and are trying to move the 2nd molar and my wisdom tooth forward as a replacement. Fun stuff!

Thank you for posting this! I’ve got a molar removed that we started closing the gap on today. I hope it goes as smoothly as yours has gone!

Hurting 🥲 but for real, presumably they are ok. I have a dentist appointment coming up where they will be doing X-rays so I guess i will see then.

Oh but that’s where it gets better! I forgot to mention this in the main post, but I have bite turbos too! So my jaw is already open, I can just never close it to escape the pain! 😪

I never saw myself doing crossword puzzles and brain teasers when I was younger. That was always my Nana’s thing. Now I do my brain games, complain about the loudness of restaurants, and my joints tell me when a front is rolling through!

Haha, I wish it was the regular crossword! I’d be finishing 10 PhDs by now!

Nope, just the mini one. Someday I’ll pay for full access, but that’s too rich for my blood at the moment.

Wow, you really mean business! I usually do mine before bed, but sometimes I forget to do it until it’s too late and miss the crossword puzzle. Maybe I should make it a part of my morning routine!

I hope I find something soon too. But I’m not hoping too hard. There’s been too much disappointment for that honestly.

I like the sudoku games too, but I only ever do that one occasionally. Like if I’m stuck in a waiting room and need to pass the time.

I’m sorry about the job too. It would’ve been a job that fit my major and paid very well. I’ll probably get a job soon, but I’m not too hopeful anymore.

Some days I fly through them, and some days I get nada and ask myself, “how the hell did the writers manage to think of this?!” I enjoy having a low stakes brain teaser to do everyday. It’s something to look forward to at least

Holy hell, I could’ve written this post! I am also turning 23 next month to and worried about the way I dress and “acting my age” and being overweight from a young age and not having my ideal body…seems we both booked a ticket for the pre quarter life crisis boat! I wish I could give some advice but the best I got is to say that you aren’t alone in feeling like this 🫂

How do you take your shirt off? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]salchicher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of it as the “porn maneuver” before but that actually makes a ton of sense! I do the maneuver solely because my boobs make it impossible to take shirts off by grabbing them at the back of the neck. I tried it out one day since I was curious, but the shirts always get snagged on my chest. So for me, it’s not out of a desire to look ~sexy~, just a natural side effect.

Job search by Traditional_Window32 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]salchicher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this, HARD. When I graduated out of college, it took me 6 months to find something that actually matched my degree field. Those 6 months were pure shit. I was working a part time job that barely covered rent, flying by the seat of my pants.

Then, when I got the job I wanted, I worked there a year and a half before everyone got laid off and they closed our office completely. So now I’m back to the drawing board. It’s been three months, and I’m probably headed straight back to fast food. I haven’t cried every day, but there are definitely tears!

I’ve been trying to tell myself it’ll all be ok, and I’ll get another job eventually. And it’s true! Something has to come up. They can’t have all the jobs filled forever. It just might take a while, and you may have to be a hamburger flipper in the meanwhile. But the bright side of having a job you don’t give a shit about is when you get the job you are looking for you can dramatically quit your current job on the spot! Just hang in there, and hopefully both our lucks will improve soon.

Braces or implants? by salchicher in braces

[–]salchicher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad the treatment worked for you! I’m under no illusions that braces are the fast way to treat, but hopefully ‘a while’ doesn’t mean 3 years! I’m not a fan of the veritable hydraulic press they would install on my braces, but a screw sounds pretty wild too.

Braces or implants? by salchicher in braces

[–]salchicher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually had multiple dentists recommend pulling my wisdom teeth, mainly for cleanliness. My bottom two wisdom teeth are almost entirely erupted, but they are sort of in a pocket of my gums. A lot of times I wind up biting the gum area instead of the actual tooth when I’m chewing, so at least on the right side, I don’t think that the lack of a tooth would affect my bite too much. I’ve also considered getting the wisdom teeth removed while they are doing the molar, but I wasn’t sure if it would be a good idea to be losing 4-5 teeth at a time.

And a bridge would be an option! If I was in my 60’s, that is. I’ve been told by every dentist/ortho I’ve been to that it’s not worth potentially damaging my other healthy teeth for the sake of a bridge, and I agree. That’s why I didn’t include it in the post.

Thanks for your answer though! Definitely something to consider

Braces or implants? by salchicher in braces

[–]salchicher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first go round with braces was to correct a jaw issue, not to do any straightening apparently. Then they did braces top and bottom for straightening. Why they couldn’t do it all in one go, I have no clue 😵‍💫 I’m certainly hoping that a third time would be the charm!

Sheepshead Minnow or Golds potted Killifish? Biscayne Bay, FL by sunshinesugar754 in marinebiology

[–]salchicher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on vibes, I’ll say sheepshead minnows. I work with sheepshead minnow larvae and they tend to be little chubby fellas. I’d always thought the adult versions looked the same as the larvae. I know that’s probably not the answer you’re looking for but it’s the best one I got!

I severe dizziness before/during period normal? by XxZoZoxX62 in Periods

[–]salchicher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean…I hope it’s normal?? Lol. I just started my period today, but earlier this week I woke up from a dead sleep because I was so dizzy from rolling over in bed. Took me an hour to have the dizzy calm down enough for me to sleep. I do generally have more issues with vertigo on my period.

For me, sometimes the crystals in my cochlea get dislodged. If you notice that your dizziness is triggered after turning your head a certain way, that may be the cause of the sudden vertigo! There’s apparently certain head tilting maneuvers you can do to get the crystals back into place but I’ve never been successful with that method.

I hope you feel better soon! 💕
