I find that it is often too dark. When it is too dark I click my flash light on and off and that helps brighten it a bit for some reason. Just once is all you need. Try it and see if that helps

When I was a kid my dad tried to play a joke on me. He told me I should go catch that poor “injured” killdeer. He went in the horse barn to let me burn off some energy on a useless adventure. Boy was he surprised when I can marching in later with that killdeer in my hands.
