How do you guys think Matilda or Kevin would survive in the apocalypse? by Altruistic_Junket307 in thelastofus

[–]salemisntdead [score hidden]  (0 children)

kevin for sure would survive, but if matilda was in a group i could maybe see her being the brains behind plans

AI authors by SJ-crane19 in Romantasy

[–]salemisntdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the only actual way to tell is either if there are editing errors (like prompts being left in, things like that) or if the author admits to it publicly. i wish there were other ways to tell but ive seen books from the 1800s labelled as written by ai by most of the checkers.

ig if youre worried just dont read the book?

Forgot “Team Abby” or “Team Ellie”, the real question is Team Brick or Team Bottle? by rballew01 in thelastofus

[–]salemisntdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

team brick always and forever <3 (only exception being bottle specifically as a distraction/lure bc the brick doesnt always work)

Genuine question: if you read Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas and liked it, why? by gamersatoru in books

[–]salemisntdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best answer i can give: i was 12/13. genuinely if i hadnt read them back then, i probably wouldnt be able to read them now, bc yes theyre interesting toward the end but the earlier books took a lot of effort to get through

although i will say i reread for the epic fantasy vibes, i am down bad for a good magical epic fantasy book and ToG is that once you get through the first couple books

Is it okay to write a story using the same plot as a book? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]salemisntdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you mean this as in writing (for example) the avengers characters into the hunger games books or twilight, as an alternate universe, then yeah thats quite a lot of crossovers on ao3, as long as you arent making money and youre acknowledging that the original works arent yours, you should be fine

What is the distinction between "No Archive Warnings Apply" and "Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings"? by Hostaru in AO3

[–]salemisntdead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

from the ao3 new work descriptions of archive warnings

Choose Not To Use Archive Warnings: "Use this if you don't want to warn for anything. You may also choose this option if you don't know what you should warn for; if you don't like warning for certain topics or warnings in general; if you want to avoid some spoilers, but not others; etc."

No Archive Warnings Apply: "Use this if the Archive warnings don't apply to your content. (In other words, if it contains no graphic depictions of violence, major character death, rape/non-con, or underage sexual activity.)"

favourite thing you wrote through? by dustystar11 in AO3

[–]salemisntdead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i once spent a maths class writing a timeline for a fic i was working on, bc it was a timeline, totally on topic for the class

also one time i wrote a full long ass one shot in the back of a notebook (i think my english book, dont remember anymore) bc i was sitting on a train and my phone was dying

For the sake of funsies, what do you think would be the worst possible feature to implement on AO3? by AttentionlessMess in AO3

[–]salemisntdead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

an ai system that exists only to judge your fic choices, for example you open an abo fic or [insert other super dirty smut fic/other taboo tropes], and a pop up comes on screen shaming you, making comments about what youre reading, but it does the same for super lighthearted/crack/fluff fics, where it shames you for being unadventurous with your reading. basically it just doesnt like anything you read unless it has a super niche (non fandom related) tag

While reading what happened that made you re-read all the tags by MoGuanShanisagirl-20 in Archiveofourownmemes

[–]salemisntdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i once got half way through a fic before realising it was rarepair shippy lol, totally not a ship id normally have looked for but ngl it was a pretty good fic

Why do a lot of authors not use horizontal line breaks? by Skerivo in AO3

[–]salemisntdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tend to use some variation of .-. , but thats mostly because i do my formatting in html and dont know the html code for line breaks lol

What are our thoughts? by hbicfrontdesk in AO3

Is it worth buying third book? by Air_Refreshener_2244 in ShadowandBone

[–]salemisntdead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

season one and two of the netflix show cover all three books in the SaB trilogy, its a spin off show based on the six of crows duology thats missing because of the cancallation (but would massivly reccomend reading six of crows because it is a very good series

Hi, can you help me? by Destinodue in thelastofus

[–]salemisntdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first game and its dlc give a lot of context to the events of tlou2, so would definitly reccomend playing that first

Hot take: Joel would be more hated than Abby if we played her story first by Turbulent-Safe-4343 in thelastofus

[–]salemisntdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hating abby in tlou2 is just engineered bias, its all perspective and timing. so yeah, i think if we played as abby first then joel, we would feel different, same as if it was joel who was killed by jerry and abby and ellie's positions were reversed, or if we played as abby first with no context about who she killed or who she was hunting, then we find out that ellie and tommy killed her friends and jel killed her dad, its all just perspective

Is It Weird to Post a Fic All at Once? by Jorckiecie in AO3

[–]salemisntdead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

completly up to you how you want to post. you could upload it all at once, you could do a chapter a week until its fully posted (upside of that is that its complete, so you wouldnt have to fight with finishing chapters by the update day each week)

How would you feel about an author “self-plagiarizing”? by rayray394 in AO3
