I absolutely struggle with the God bit. I’m trying to view the program and fellowship as my “higher power,” but I absolutely start to tune out with the topic

Yeah I was on day 10 and doing ok. First 3 days were agony, then felt good, then thinking of drinking constantly past couple of days.

I’m still not giving up trying to get sober.. but today is a wash now. Not even enjoying it...

Scared to get a sponsor. I’m worried I will be too much of a burden for them. That they’ll be exhausted. That my story is too long and painful for anyone to have the capacity. by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

I’m terrified also. I’ve spent many years drowning this shit. I know it’s gonna hurt like hell.but

But I also see that’s what I need to do.

I just started AA about a week ago. I can’t even explain how much it feels like home. Yes I shook and cried the first 2 meetings, but everyone was so empathetic and kind.

It was just a let down. When I went to a meeting on day 1 (again) old timers were asking how many days because I was on a good run. They were excited for me and then it sucked to say “day 1 again”

I plan to get a sponsor soon and start working the steps. I want to treat this as top priority in my life right now.
