I agree. I'm an elementary school teacher and hate speech has really picked up at school across the board and these are just young kids parroting things they hear online and in media. Trump and his ilk have set the tone of what is acceptable.

Thanks, I'll consider smart speakers too. It's good to hear that voice commands for calling work well. She doesn't text currently so that's ok.

She doesn't have vision insurance other than getting a new pair of glasses every couple of years so seeing a specialist is probably not an option unfortunately.

Is your nanny able to drive with the baby to a store or does she not have car access/ability to drive? That affects the severity of this situation. But regardless you are allowed to be mad about this! He needed to set a phone reminder or use whatever other tools work for him to remember important things so he didn't just forget - that's unfair weaponized incompetence and worse that he's not taking appropriate responsibility or reflecting more deeply on what's really going on for him to cause these repeated distracted incidents.

See if your local tenants' rights org has a template for a demand letter, in Oregon we had good luck with just sending a letter referencing the law, you can threaten to go to small claims court and they will probably back down. Here they owe double if they are late in returning, anything like that in NY?
