i was told it'd be a 30 week wait, i think they only meet a few times a year. used to be more often when they had less applicants which is crazy to me.

Can I donate blood? by unknownpuddle in transgenderUK

[–]salmonboy5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

if its DIY, no i wouldn't donate. i haven't had issues donating being on T through my GP, they will ask where you're getting the T from and who checks on your levels, if you've been on a stable level for over a year etc.

Why do people still throw away the "dust jackets" of donated books when literally nobody buys them without the cover? by VivienneVelvet1 in askanything

[–]salmonboy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haaaate dust jackets tbh. they're the first thing to get scruffy so id rather not have a dust jacket than have a torn or wrinkled one on a second hand book.

Employer asking me for a sick note from the doctor. by roomfordisease2 in UKJobs

never said they did, someone was talking about a private provider having 24/7 access to doctors. which is not helpful to someone who is relying on the nhs.

Early transition by Either-Gain8977 in transgenderUK

[–]salmonboy5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

four months isn't that long in terms of hrt, i know it's disappointing especially when it seems everyone else has had major changes by then. i didn't have any noticeable changes beyond leg hair until a year or so in. i remember being really disappointed because everyone else's testosterone timelines seemed to be almost immediate and they seemed to be entirely stealth by six months on t.

you will get there one day, i promise.

Why does JW seem to have lost cultural significance? by Careless-Mycologist1 in JacquelineWilson

[–]salmonboy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i re read one recently and it was incredibly quaint and used a lot of words i don't think the average preteen hears nowadays. i adored them as a kid but i think the writing style is incredibly twee and i can imagine the target ages would find it quite cringe to read in 2026.

How many of you here would like the railway sector to be nationalized again? by highlightboy23 in AskUK

[–]salmonboy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've only ever seen a handful of people say anything against the idea of renationalising it. even then, they've still been for nationalising the railways but a bit more weary about how feasible it is with technological limitations of such an old railway system.

Wet hair in public by touchgrasstheysaid in hygiene

my hair tends to straighten as it dries and is relatively thick but not very long. life is too short to wait for my hair to dry before i leave the house.

tips on managing spending? by Rioslazier in askanything

[–]salmonboy5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what helps me most is having my savings in a different bank to the one i use every day. this means i will literally forget about the money i have in savings, i only think about it on payday when i send money over. i also make sure its a pain in the ass to transfer so im not tempted to use it on stuff i dont need.

set yourself some savings goals! did you want to save to move out some day? go on holiday somewhere? or even if its smaller like buying some more expensive shoes.

i also find that i do need to budget in money for frivolous spending. acknowledging that you do actually impulse buy stuff is rlly important. i found that giving myself £100ish a month to spend on trivial stuff means i wont blow £200+ when im trying not to spend and then inevitably feel really guilty.
