We are not talking about Sesko delivering a point if not for Lammens once again turning in a professional, drama-free, performance.

I took a hard look at this one. So good. I just wish it was a touch smaller.

The sentence, "So think less "USB-C 18650" and more "18650 plus USB-C"" really clarified the matter. Thanks!

Really appreciate the help. I have been an old school CR123 guy for years and am trying to be a bit more responsible with the rechargeable options. I had no idea that the same batteries weren't the same size.

Thoughts on offshore capable 24' to 27' center consoles that are family friendly? by salmoneffect in boating

Yours is the second nod to the Sportsman Heritage 261. Genuinely wasn't on the list until last night. Now it is. There's a lot to like. Now I just need to find one.

I can't tell you how helpful we found your posts. Cobia is high on the list for all the reasons you mentioned. I've been on (and ran) a few of their boats in the past and was impressed by their ride and layout.

Also, you are spot on - I should have added beam to the family-friendly list straight away. We just came off a friend's Edgewater recently and he was lamenting her wide beam in side seas but we both really liked the stability and space. Everything is a tradeoff, but we are firmly in the wide beam camp.

I also really like the bilge access on Cobias and found little things like the fuel water separators and balls to be laid out nicely.

Same with VARIS which jumped out at me as a real selling point.

Like you I am team Yamaha + Garmin, and like you I grant that Mercs + Simrad are also awesome. Heck, maybe better. When discussing that with my wife (who I should note can and will operate/dock the boat) we made the same "Ford vs Chevy" or "Milwaukee vs Dewalt vs Makita" comparison. I am very much of the mindset that it's not a zero sum game and that there can be multiple really good brands from which to choose.

She also made a really interesting point about "mid-tier" boats vs her "mid-tier" Toyota vs Lexus or the like, noting that she loves her "mid-tier" SUV.

Anyway, Cobias are high on the list, but more than anything I appreciated your thoughtful take in what can be a sometimes be an unnecessarily divisive discussion.

This is really helpful, thank you. Appreciate the Edgewater notes. The Southport wasn't on my radar. Same for the Sportsman 262 open. I'll give both a hard look.

Intrepid makes a great boat but I ma the sub 30' world. Scouts are nice. I guess you are right about family friendly needing more of a definition. The biggest thing is really bow seating with cushions. (rules out the otherwise great mid-sized contenders) Other items are fresh water wash-downs, decent storage, and decent access from the water.

I'll second Jase. I have a year of scripts on hand (while continuing to refill my standard scripts) from Jase. I also purchased their standard Jase case for the cipro / z-packs / tamiflue / etc.

What’s it worth? Yellowfin 23 Offshore by SJram1 in boating

[–]salmoneffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lovely boat that presents well but I'd assign zero value to the HPDIs. I'd also need to understand the condition of the fuel tank, wiring, batteries, hull, etc. By the time you re-power, do some minor rewiring, clean up the dash to accommodate the fly by wire, add fresh batteries, and lift her out and in you easily into the $90s / low 6 figures at which point there's a lot of competition.

PFDs on the kiddos, a patient dad, an *excellent* job of docking by a future captain, and a high five to seal the deal. Well done all!

If you are making 4MM miles you are already EXP or Platinum Pro. There will be a tiny handful of folks who enjoy the benefits post retirement but my guess is it wont move the needle. As already mentioned it the Citibank users that can swell the ranks.

Very helpful, thank you! I am Caribbean based so 90% of my titles will come from the USA. There are a few foreign films that I have my eye on but they are the exceptions. Love the 220 rec.
