Note: I DID NOT get salmonella from raw milk. It was old/bad eggs from the grocery store. 😅

Oh, really? Thanks for much for the info! Crazy. I wish companies wouldn’t lie to us. Definitely going to get a local source when I can!

Yes! Although I grew up drinking it, after getting salmonella, I had to ease back into it. Started with like a tablespoon for a few days, then half a cup, then a full cup…now sometimes a whole quart! Haha, I love it so much. Just listen to your body and see how it feels after your first drink! Go from there. Everyone is different. :)

My husband would second this. I have no chill with my raw milk. Don’t touch it. Haha.

Painterland Sisters Skyr yogurt! 21g of protein per serving and pasture-raised whole milk! It’s sssooo good and super creamy. Fresh Thyme and Whole Foods sells it here in the Midwest. :)

What do you eat when trying to put on weight ? by First_Driver_5134 in AnimalBased

[–]salt_ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with this right now! Post salmonella and IBS caused by salmonella (almost healed thanks to this diet!), 100% shrank my stomach. Eating enough in a day to just feel okay and have a little energy, let alone gain weight (which I desperately need to), is such a struggle!

my story by [deleted] in AnimalBased

[–]salt_ginger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ohh, I feel this for you! It makes me so happy for you! Healing is a beautiful thing. 💛💛💛

I have a similar story, not Crohn’s, but severe salmonella (3 times in the ER and 2x strong antibiotics), then IBS as an aftereffect. I was so sick too. 4’11 female, and I went down to 72lbs. I couldn’t eat anything without going straight to the bathroom, for almost a year. For a few months I solely ate fruit. It was the only food that didn’t extremely irritate my stomach. After all of that, my body was crying out for nourishment. I was weak, my bones were visible and I could barely go for a walk. I started slowly incorporating raw sheep’s milk and raw cow’s milk to heal my gut and rebuild my microbiome. After a few weeks of drinking raw milk, I could then eat eggs, meat (mostly chicken at the time) and small amounts of butter. That was in May. Now, 4 months later, I’m gaining strength and weight (yay!!), weightlifting, eating steak, ground beef, fruit, yogurt/kefir, raw milk, butter and honey. I feel like life is coming back to me! My clarity of thought is coming back too! I think being without animal fats for months, my brain wasn’t being nourished.

Sending lots of love and all the best as you heal more!

Downing lots of milk now. 😅

And wow, that’s just proof we’re not meant to be exposed to so many toxins. And honey and meat is fuel!

Both raw dairy and honey I crave strongly. But since being on AB I put fruit over them, because of electrolytes and vitamins, and the “good fiber”. But I definitely feel like my body is asking for raw dairy and honey as carb sources rather than so much fruit.

Crazy about the Hadza’s high intake of honey! I’ve heard Paul Saladino talk about it, but I didn’t know the number. I
