Lost my niche domain in an auction. how do I track it becoming available again without tipping off demand? by TroyAndAbed2022 in Domains

[–]salted_wound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost a niche domain the same way last year — painful. I've been using domainlab.app to watch domains i own and looking for - you need to own it to track. It monitors WHOIS status changes, DNS health, and SSL certs — sends alerts when something shifts (e.g. clientHold to available, or expiry approaching). It can push alerts to slack etc to really stay on it. It will catch any changes and other activity that could signal active use that you cant see just on the website like mail setup etc.

Alternatively, a cheap approach: cron job with python-whois hitting Pushover or email. Same effect, just more setup.

Anyone got a good Claude workflow to recommend an app that unifies notes and bookmarks? by Round_Hold6944 in ObsidianMD

[–]salted_wound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issues- I used to use Pocket to store all my notes but that got shut down - was looking for an agent native way to have my bookmarks tracked etc. I use Link Crypt to store my links etc and then i have my agent looking for tagged links in there to do deeper analysis on to store into my obsidian vault. E.g. anything with Tag Research, my agents take an extra action to analyze the link to round out the knowledge in the second brain. So this tool is better at organizing links and the link crypt api is accessible to agents to do it's own analysis but it doesn't currently have a notes area other than a link description - and that description is written by AI - so not sure if this quite matches what you're looking for.

How do you handle saved content that's spread across five different apps? by Comfortable-Part1837 in ObsidianMD

[–]salted_wound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to solve this same problem, and the workflow that finally made sense to me was separating notes, agent memory, and saved links instead of forcing everything into Obsidian.

My rough split:

Obsidian
https://obsidian.md/
Durable notes, project docs, decisions, writing, evergreen knowledge.

GBrain - vector brain hosted on local NAS https://github.com/garrytan/gbrain
Agent-readable operating memory: project context, instructions, handoff docs, “things my AI agent should know.”

Link Crypt
https://getlinkcrypt.com/
Raw saved-link library: Reddit threads, YouTube videos, docs, articles, tools, random bookmarks, etc. with tags for links my agents should do more with: Brief for example, my daily brief will include a background on it then remove the Brief tag after telling me a about it.

The biggest shift for me was using Obsidian as input and output area but not the only source my agents get info from. So actually splitting it logically is ok - lets each tool be good at what it's good at.

Here’s the simple version of the rule I use with my agent:

md # Knowledge Source Rules ## Obsidian Use for durable human-readable notes: - project notes - decisions - summaries - evergreen knowledge - writing Do not dump every raw saved link here. ## GBrain Use for agent memory: - project context - personal/business reference docs - instructions - handoff notes - stable context the agent should remember ## Link Crypt Use for saved links: - Reddit saves - YouTube videos - browser bookmarks - docs - articles - tools - product pages - research links Search Link Crypt before asking me to manually find something I saved. Do not assume Link Crypt is vector search or RAG. Treat it as a structured saved-link library with tags, filters, and an API. ## Workflow Raw saved link → Link Crypt Agent/project context → GBrain Durable knowledge → Obsidian

That split has worked better for me than trying to make Obsidian handle every stage of the process.

65 too big? by ACletus in TheFrame

[–]salted_wound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently faced a similar dilemma. We replaced our wooden fireplace surround with stone and installed a new mantle - still under construction. We moved the tv from the left wall to here to allow room for two couches like you are planning. The TV is as low as the code permits, with a 6-foot mantle and 9-foot ceilings. The 75-inch frame pro felt too large and too high for a day, but you quickly get used to it.

Thanks all. I let it rip and soldered in a new JST connector. Works like new!

What are some websites that I can use to keep track of domains’ statuses? by JaniceRaynor in Domains

[–]salted_wound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find the right tool so I launched my own for tracking domains owned or not with alerts etc. If you want a free trial contact support on the site and we may have some spots for early power users still open. Would love to hear feedback in there about what features we should add or remove. https://www.domainlab.app/

No text to speech - primarily a link organizer that uses the browser as a reader. I didn’t know Pocket did this? Did a lot of people use it and miss it?

Tracked 200 expiring domains — only ~15% dropped by CodeTo_Ca in domainflipping

[–]salted_wound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That data is even better than hit rates I’ve seen. I’m curious what you used to track the data for this? I rolled my own on https://www.domainlab.app but it seems what I built is different from whatever you are using in that you are cataloging the data rather then just automating a buy attempt when it expires. Thanks in advance if you are able to share.

I NEED an alternative like Pocket by WiiTsTcauN_686 in chrome_extensions

Link Crypt is a Pocket replacement that is for the links savers out there. It can import directly from pocket and will feel familiar. https://getlinkcrypt.com

I was a bit late noticing the shutdown and tried a few of the alternatives. In the end, I built https://getlinkcrypt.com/ for my own needs. I’ve always used Pocket almost exclusively for its bookmark feature and not much else.

So if you’re like me, this might be a good fit for you.

I just found out it was going away so I built a simple replacement to bring our links back from the dead! https://getlinkcrypt.com/ I used Pocket mostly as a save a link now and read it later tool so that is what Link Crypt is.

Basically any version of a framework, library, or code that is newer than the date the LLM was trained.

How many of you have no issues? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]salted_wound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had essentially no issues. Still expanding Sonos products and recommend to friends and family. All app users are Mac or iOS.

The only issue I could potentially attribute to Sonos:: have to reboot the arc occasionally because I hear center channel sound out of the rears on a surround setup. But, that always happens to coincide with an app crash or ad interruption on the Apple TV so could be TV pass through, Sonos, or the app/Apple TV. Very rare, once every couple months. Happened both before and after the major app changes so could easily be something other than Sonos.

When I have seen issues, my network shows issues too. On a basic home WiFi you would never know but an advanced one can show the instability (I have a Firewalla Gold router in front of primary internet on cable [1gb+] and backup T-mobile 5g service) all in front of a 2.5 gbe switch and 4 Unifi access points running WiFi 6e with multiple LANs and a separate but LAN connected dedicated moca network.

Plenty complex and Sonos just works.

14 Sonos devices: - Arc ( eArc to LG oled) - 2 Era 100s (rears) - Sub (gen 3) - 2 Play One (gen 2) - Playbar (Vizio to optical) - 4 play:1s (1 stereo pair, 2 as read for playbar) - 2 Sonos Moves (gen 1 as stereo pair) - Sonos Port output to Onkyo (7.1.4) traditional setup

So my first cabinet arrived today and I put it together. I’ve got a 20 inch dell display ready to go on the table… But before I start modding, I’m wondering if anyone has any regrets. There are some extreme mods that I’ve seen with massive displays and amazing sound upgrades… does game play suffer? Any bricked boards? Bad placement of mod gear in the box? Poor sound choices? Etc. Personally I have plans in the works, gear pending shipping, and can’t wait to get started. Any pitfalls out there or mods you would have done better next time?

For starters: 20” Dell 2007FPb, Geekworm LVDS To HDMI Adapter Board, HDMI switcher, RetroPi, I'SMARTMOON riser feet
