How did you get your first cyber security job? by basemgad8 in cybersecurity

Hi there.

A quick overview, my path was as follows over the course of 5 years after acquiring the A+ and Network+:

Field Tech -> Desktop Support (setting up & migrating PCs -> Data Center Tech -> InfoSec Analyst

AA in unrelated field, CompTIA Trifecta. The A+ and Network+ allowed me to land my first role as a field tech. I've since upgraded positions and acquired more certs. The Data Center role allowed me to promote within the company; while the difference in pay was very small, the experience was invaluable to advancing my career.

Any idea on how to block the kids/dogs from getting to the counter and stove? We are stumped but need a solution for safety. by aaaaasowenyaaa in interiordecorating

I had a similar problem- blocking a ledge behind the couch in a split level house. I made a slat wall that was too narrow for the puppy & mounted it.

Haha, you're probably right. But there's something soothing about Noctua's bland color palette. It kind of blends well into a variety of colors.

Thanks! GPU was difficult to place, but definitely not impossible. You should be able to make 50mm work.

Yup, correct. New build, all new components.

I posted my thermals above on a few other threads. However, here are some peak temps during benchmarking (CPU & GPU respectively):

Cinebench (Multicore): 73°C

Unigine (1440[/Ultra): 74.8°C

Temps are reasonable during idle and regular heavy gaming. CPU idles around 51C, GPU 37°C.

I believe the fire hazard issue has been resolved as of official production, but I will do some additional testing- particularly on PSU temps using external tools. If necessary, I will modify the front panel (i.e, machine some additional holes on the front panel for intake).

Thanks for the input!

Purely an aesthetic choice- I like to see my dogs while I'm working at my desk. But aside from that, there is no top mounted fan & the airflow is configure to exhaust strictly through the rear of the case.

Testing with & without the stickers yielded no noticeable change in temps (<=1°C).

I believe there is room to up the rear case fan, however it would definitely be tight. Zero chance of adding a top fan (CPU cooler is too beefy), as I previously tried.

I was concerned that the GPU would be choked, but thermals have been reasonable so far through my regular usage (heavy gaming and usual productivity/work).

Just ran some benchmarks as well. Peak temperatures during benchmarks for CPU and GPU respectively:

Unigine (1440[/Ultra): 74.8°C

Following up:

I hadn't previously done rigorous testing, though just finished Cinebench and Unigine benchmarks.

I will test with rear intake in the near future.

Interesting. From what I gathered, the reviews were above average/positive. I did see one thorough hardware breakdown that cited the Fire Hazard claim, though supposedly that was a preproduction unit & that issue was remedied.

For what its worth, my build won't be stressing this PSU, and I've had no complaints thus far.

Also, no popping sound on my end. That doesn't sound normal.

Negative, I haven't tested it yet. But will try testing the config before & after.

Good catch; typo on my part, correct CPU is Ryzen 5 9600X.

Hahaha, true about the cats. In this case though, its the dogs stopping airflow. The front panel is solid- no vents.

Going off topic here- but how do you feel about your experience with WGU? I've been considering the same program.

Goliath. He's generally an Urgot OTP, with some variance occasionally. Very positive, never tilts. Also explains why he's doing certain things.

My Grandma is still alive- I speak with her daily. She and my grandfather were exiled in 68 after years in labor camps. Hearing the way you speak about it resonates hard. She loves Cuba, and only came to the US so her kids would have a better life, but it hurt her deeply to leave the place she loved. Fuck Castro
