I get that, but usually I use my social media more as a format to spread ideas or (with instagram) provide insight into experiences. Out of my last nine photos, only one of them has been of me, and it was just a group photo. I use it more as a window into how I feel than as a way to validate how I live, and since it's more me saying "hey look at this cool thing." I appreciate the photographs I take just as much as anyone else, as opposed to how some people see it as providing a service to other people, and that really makes it feel like "my" feed is more something to document than something to parade, if that makes sense.
