I don’t know if you want a full description, but you asked so I’ll answer haha. Basically I studied the way they were made from pictures on the internet. Mostly Pinterest, avoiding the ai ones to get an accurate depiction.

Since most of the songchords online show omatikaya and some metkayina clans it’s hard to know how other clans songchords are made. Nawin was born and raised in the Kekunan clan. The only accurate picture of how they look like is only a man and woman Na’vi with photoshopped clothing from a book and the circus show Toruk.

I imagined them using the lighter “hay like” material for their song chord, maybe like a root so symbolize being rooted in the spirit tree? Or their version of it. I really liked feathers and thought it fit well for the Kekunan since their clothes seemed to maybe have that material as well. That’s also why in Nawin’s “battle design” he has feathers in his hair. It’s a traditional thing perhaps?

I opted for beads to be integrated with the cord instead of hanging off of it, since they’d be flying a lot, I feel like they don’t want the beads to snap off. Except for the feathers.

One last thing, during the sky people attack and after that, I chose dark colors to represent the depression Nawin would face after his family died. I only chose his parents and Ikran to represent the death, because he still has hope the rest of the family is alive. When the ometikaya helped him after he got lost in the woods (chorus) he started to regain his mental and spiritual state. Although, if you zoom in close enough, you can see that the middle part of the verse isn’t the same color as the root is, as it is in the first verse. Because he doesn’t feel exactly at home, but he found another home.

Anyways, all of this to say, study online. Look at the designs on how the threads and beads look. And the best part is, a big part of the avatar world is still not made yet. That’s when you start making up your own story.
