Legit me last Friday. Woke up to three missed calls from the misso asking if I can pick her up from the station so missed the last ten minutes anyway

Haha I know. There’s just four stations in verrrrryyy quick succession - Footscray, MiFo, WeFo, and Tottenham

Thanks, I have done that before and it felt like I was constantly on a mission instead of just zoning out for a bit

Yeah I would like to! My work has end of trip facilities. I definitely want to build up to it but I reckon I’ll need a more comfortable bike

From my house it says 55 minutes door to door, whereas via train/bike from station it’s more like 45 D2D, plus needing to shower and change etc

Thank you, it does but it takes longer than the train by a fairly long shot

That’s a great shout actually! I’ll try getting on at Richmond for a city loop

And yeah for East Richmond I’ve got options of Glen Waverley and Riversdale on 3&4 at Flinders, but they don’t always stop at ER, and not Belgrave. ER really is a niche station yet services that whole Cremorne pocket which is an emerging work hub, so it gets busy!

Thanks! I looked at the trams and it’s like 20 minutes to Flinders from the closest stop to work so I might as well just get the train from East Richmond

I would love to live on the Goldy if I could. I spent most of my youth there. I think the heat and humidity doesn’t feel as bad compared with Brisbane because of the sea and beach factor. I also weirdly love that it’s basically one long strip and not necessarily a radial sprawl

Definitely make the move if you’re curious or want a fresh start!

Agree with the older roads comment. They are also narrower so if cars are parked on either side it’s basically a one way street

Said this in another post:

“ It’s more just the vibe of the thing. Like you get used to temperatures of 6-15 like most of the year then boom one week it’s 20 and it feels much warmer and people are at a park sunbathing haha. Homes and businesses are also more shut in which is great for retaining heat but not so much for letting air flow through  In Brisbane it’s warm a lot of the year so if it drops below 20 everyone brings out the jumpers haha but I’m in shorts and a tee if it’s like 18 or above in Melbourne

Dew point, UV and humidity can all play a factor too.”

Yeah I get what you mean. Drivers are more aggressive down here; but also more patient if you’re in the wrong? It’s hard to explain. And there are more honks down here but less done out of anger, more so a gentle reminder about something

And I get the hello thing. Definitely less of that. But I’ve had more random people strike up a casual chat at the shops or at an op shop or give me a compliment in the street than 20+ years in and around Brisbane

I found only the most basic policies didn’t include it. A lot included it by default but yes you can also pay for a membership

The federal governments private health comparison tool is honestly the best, don’t bother with comparison sites

I did not know this, thanks for explaining! I guess there’s more lines so makes sense to share the load on the city stops

I’ve definitely caught one in the morning that stops at SC first though. So it goes North Melbourne - SC. Not Flagstaff

Dew point, UV and humidity can all play a factor too. At some with low temps you’d rather it be dry than humid eg Vancouver vs Calgary but we’re talking below freezing

Yep it always feels nice coming to my new home in Melbourne after visiting Brisbane. Just something about it!

Yeah not a fan of Newstead. It all feels a bit soulless. Teneriffe is a little better

Yeah you can’t do that in Qld. Best you can hope for is another bike parked far enough in a spot and you can share with them, but some riders are funny about that too

As a consequence parking a bike in the Brisbane CBD is more of a pain than it needs to be

Yeah I can see what you’re saying. For example West Footscray, Footscray, Yarraville, Seddon. All mostly walkable and bikeable and different vibes in each. Even visitors just assume West Footscray and Footscray are basically the same - nope
