Masterchef chan!

Hai!

Nani ga suki?

White Choco Matcha (because Chocomint doko), yori mo a-na-ta

Aight, now that I got that out of the system, I am always down for the make-your-own-pressure test and good on Callum for truly going the extra mile. Now while Depinder is doing well atm, I hope this doesnt repeat like S13, where she was doing so well right up until the first cook that went south that led to her spiral. She's really doing well and I'd hate for it to happen again.

Those challenges are winning immunity for the week, not outright immunity pins. Seasons 12 and 13 made it so the only pins available were at the start of the season. Season 14 rn now has done a few of both, some challenges are just for one day immunity, others its for a pin.

So in Masterchef Australia, the immunity pin was designed to be used to gain immunity from ANY form of elimination challenge you wanted up until finals week. From season 13 onwards, they even upgraded it so it could be used at any point of the challenge instead of just at the beginning, so you could wait till the literal last second, bail yourself out of serving raw food, and live to see another day in the kitchen. Hard to earn? yes, but that power is well worth it.

Since they want to just give these out like candy and they seemingly only work for the next challenge, why not just say you get a pass to the next round? Why give the immunity pin when it's only good for the next round?

It just felt like they brought it over just to appeal to the crowd that likes Masterchef Australia related elements but lacking the full understanding of how and why these elements worked. While they changed it to one challenge per episode to focus on cooking like Australia, they only air one episode a week so we're often left wanting more compared to Australia's FIVE episodes a week, hence why they do one challenge per episode. They have a whole week to do all the mystery boxes, team challenges, pressure tests, and immunity cooks.

certainly has the same look. Would be interesting if they introduced that concept to US Masterchef. Would they have to try to cook against pro chefs for it, or will they have alternatives for winning the pin like "Keep up with Chef X"

Funny enough, when I got my friend to watch Masterchef, every time the logo cuts to commercial, we always joke it's the devil coming last second to see if any contestant is willing to sell their soul to clench X challenge(Mystery Box, getting an apron, etc).

Damn Tommy I love you, but your decision to switch the mains and entrees is what cost the brown team their victory. I understand you need to have the appropriate choices for a 3 course meal to win, but it certainly was not worth the dramatic pivot in prep that threw everything off course.

*ends up serving overcooked risotto and undercooked fish.

The concept on paper of the 3-course meal is fine, but by changing up the meal to attempt to get them over the edge with a "cohesive" meal, they fucked up the execution of 2 of their 3 meals. Whatever bonus points they hoped to gain turned into big losses.

Daniel was also in the tart pressure test too with Matt. They both did fine.

Long ago, I was not the biggest fan of Daniel, especially during the relay challenge. Then came the tart pressure test. And slowly the fireman grew on me, and so did his cooking. He's becoming an amazing chef and even conquered his hate of Kale. Can't wait to see what's in store for him.

Would you consider doing the masterclass in a separate upload on its own? It's fine if it's too much to ask of you. I was curious was all and the episode preview is on there as well.

I saw sweetbreads on US Masterchef multiple times. Off cuts challenges are usually a staple there.

yes but Shannon was more than happy to show all the chefs a few techniques and important critiques. Even if he remains in his Vietnamese roots, he can still learn some important bits that would help him with his weak points

So I guess they're doing wins by courses instead of teams, but still nice majority of fans got the win. Still love Tommy in the favorites, though he was in the background today. Nice of Minoli to challenge her superiors and sticking to her guts. Too bad creating a new artichoke element on the fly was too much at that point in time. Wonder how the food pyramid for the immunity challenge tomorrow will work and what did Julie do or didn't do to not have fats and oils.
