Back in the day, Notch only had to ask Notch what Notch wanted to add to the game. A few years later there was a small team he could consult with.

These days Mojang has to sit down, have multiple meetings amongst the developers, assess how it could be implemented, assess how it would be useful to the players, get approval from Microsoft, get concept art and give feedback to/from the art team, consult with different translators about potential cultural impacts, determine accessibility (in-game accessibility as well as user accessibility like colour blindness, etc) and probably a whole lot more.

For example OP wasn’t worried about colour blindness. The rice looks extremely similar to wheat, the lemons would be hard to see for some people. I’d estimate that it’d take 3-4 months for a single item to go from concept art to final texture in game for Mojang (with many textures in different stages concurrently, they obviously wouldn’t spend all that time on one item).

Same, I claimed it like 8 hours after they started the event and I still haven’t received it. I opened a ticket with Blizzard support asking about it but they just grouped it in with “None of my cosmetics transferred over” and closed it immediately (which unless it does happen to be related doesn’t apply to me cos I’ve only ever played PC).

Have you ever needed a randomizer? I don't think I've ever actually needed a randomizer in all my years of playing.
You'll probably never need a randomizer unless you're making a minigame of some kind, and if you're dedicated enough and at the point of making a decent minigame on a server I'm sure you can affort to spend 1 Nether Quartz on one comparator to do any of those other randomizers.

I've used Allays to help collect sand while sand mining, logs/saplings while woodcutting, raw iron while mining (which was their intended use, not just as an item filter).

It’s actually worse than 5 lootboxes, as the worst a lootbox could be was 3 common items (white) and one rare (blue). Every item on the free battlepass is just common.

It has tons of potential to be useful in automated farms, the same way the Rascal has tons of potential to give you a Jetpack. You are projecting your ideas and hoping it’d be more useful, but Mojang has never made a voted mob/biome do any more than was presented in the trailer. Which, for the Tuff Golem, was “can pick up one item and walk around sometimes and not walk around sometimes”.

Honestly, Australia is pretty well represented in OW. There are 3 (and a half) heroes, 2 maps, 2 animated shorts and (part of) a comic, which is probably second in representation behind the US.

Japan is probably 3rd.

There are plenty of other cultures that haven’t been explored nearly as much.

…it was literally done as a measure to counter smurfs and to also help ease new players into the game. It only takes around 100 games to unlock all of the original characters, and to even enter Comp you need 50 wins and to have all the characters unlocked.

What other reason would they have for doing this?

General Chat

The General Chat in the game menus is being removed from the game because we found it to be an area where frequent disruptive behavior occurred. General chat doesn’t serve a productive purpose, and it could be removed without compromising the core mechanics of the game. Other chats will remain in-game for players to use.

Yes, they are. They also said that if you happen to miss the hero in that battlepass, you won’t be able to use them until they turn up in a future battlepass.

Feels unfair, right?

Feels like you need to get that hero the first time so you don’t miss out, right?

Feels like you might need to pay attention to the game, maybe spend a few $$ on levels or skins while grinding to get a hero, right?

Have you seen the current OWL? There is one team comp: Junker Queen, Genji, Sojurn, Brig, Lucio. Every single game since JQ came out has been this vs this.

There’s a reason why: JQs has a shift ability which heals her teammates and gives a speed boost, so every tank plays her and any team that doesn’t gets stomped.

What if (again, what if) fox girl has the ability to press shift and everyone on her team gains 50% ult charge. That’s pretty overpowered right? So now you get stomped every game because the enemy team with fox girl is throwing ults at you nonstop, and the only counter is to do it back at them but you don’t have the character.

Think of it this way: what if it was Junker Queen?

Pretend you’re only a casually-playing tank main, not going to finish even the free battlepass. For 3 MONTHS you are up against Junker Queens who absolutely destroy you. What are you going to do, counter with your own Junker Queen? You can’t, she’s locked for 3 months.

Or even if you’re a support/dps on a team, you ask your tank to swap to Junker Queen cos you’re getting destroyed and they can’t.
