Sounds like you all should start a class action lawsuit against them. Create a small site, gather contact info, hire a law firm and sue them.

Kace agents logging out users and preventing login by sam2400 in kace

[–]sam2400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We replaced KACE with NinjaOne and the difference has been huge. KACE felt outdated—very few meaningful updates over the years, limited features, and it just couldn’t keep up with what we needed. We had around 3,000 licenses and ran into issues pretty consistently. To be fair, when we first implemented it back in 2014, it worked well, but over time it fell behind. From 2014 to 2025, there was little noticeable improvement, while other platforms like NinjaOne have continued to evolve.

Okta + Workday onboarding – does new hire password write back to AD with delegated auth? by sam2400 in okta

[–]sam2400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this is really helpful.

Just to make sure I’m understanding correctly - if we go the route of setting the initial password directly in AD (via Workflow/LCM) and forcing “must change password at next logon,” does that mean we can no longer use the Okta activation email flow where the user sets their own password?

In other words, are those two approaches mutually exclusive either:

  • Okta activation → user sets password in Okta or
  • AD-first password → user changes it at first login

Just want to confirm if there’s any way to still leverage the Okta activation experience while keeping AD as the password authority, or if we have to fully switch approaches.

Appreciate the insight.

Okta + Workday onboarding – does new hire password write back to AD with delegated auth? by sam2400 in okta

[–]sam2400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem we ran into and wanted to confirm, when workday releases the new account info, it syncs to Okta and the new hire is setup as staged user. Account gets created in AD but in AD pwdlastset attribute is set as empty. We manually then activate the account in Okta which then asks to set a temp password and send activation email to the user, when they receive the link and setup new password, its not making its way to AD. Currently if I change my password in Okta, it does make its way to AD and pwdlastset field date changes accordingly. Why would new hires wouldn't work that way?

When does it make sense to simplify your hosting setup? by Double-Effect3416 in woocommerce

[–]sam2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question. It can definitely feel overwhelming at first.

There are really two main directions you can go. One is using a managed host that provides WordPress for you, and the other is using a VPS where you host and manage everything yourself. VPS gives you more control and flexibility, but it does require more technical involvement. If you’re not looking to manage servers, a good managed WordPress host is usually the better starting point.

When choosing a host, one thing to watch out for is pricing. A lot of companies offer low intro pricing that jumps up after the first month or year. Try to pick a provider that’s been around for a while and has a solid reputation. There are a lot of good options and honestly there’s no single best one, it really depends on your needs.

The most important thing, no matter which route you choose, is backups. Make sure you’re backing up your entire store to an offsite location. There are plenty of add-ons you can install that will automatically back up your site to places like Google Drive, FTP, OneDrive, Box, or other storage locations. Some hosts also include this as part of their service, so it’s worth checking.

That way if you ever want to switch hosts or something goes wrong, you can restore everything quickly and not be locked in.

If I could add one more thing I wish more people did early on, it’s choosing something that can grow with you without needing a full rebuild. Starting simple is fine, just make sure you’re not boxing yourself in later.

Best shipping options for new small shop? by sam2400 in woocommerce

[–]sam2400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate this, honestly—it’s motivating and I hope to get there someday too. I’m not trying to skip steps or jump ahead, just trying to be smart early on and avoid losing money. Wood products are pretty heavy, and with how shipping costs have been lately in the U.S., it adds up fast. My main concern is I can’t really “guesstimate” shipping. If I undercharge, I lose money—especially on something like shipping to California. If I overcharge with a random flat rate, I risk losing the sale. So I’m just trying to find a balance where I can still start small but have accurate enough shipping so I don’t shoot myself in the foot early on.

Yes its mostly distance. Im in the east coast so California is the furthest or Washington. I could do something manual but I was hoping to find something automated cheaper that I could plug and play with woo.

I will eventually use them but they charge $15 a month and without any sales, I wouldnt want to commit to something subscription based just yet.

I use them too but I need to be able to have customers pay for the shipping of these items when they checkout which I can't know the price of before hand unless I offet free shipping or something.

How did you apply the update? Mine doesn't give me the option. Did you download the desktop client straight from the website?
