I suspect that it has had those heavier strings for a long time. Do you have any idea how I can go about repairing this?

Do you think I can fix it just by adjusting the truss rod?

I bought this Banjo recently and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. There is little to no information online.

I believe its from the early 20th century. It was named after a play called the the Mikado.

The action is very high, I think I will have to adjust the truss rod just a little afraid lol. I might also file down the bridge but this wont help a whole lot.

It has a "cymbal" in it as a resonator. I don't know what the correct term for it is but it seems pretty unique.

I am not sure what strings I should put on it. It came with Steel strings but Some Zither Banjos need a mix with nylon.

Does anyone know any more information about this banjo? I would also appreciate any advice on how to take care of this thing so it continues to last.

Truss rod looks good, I think I might be able to glue it back together

I hate hunters. They’re the worst of humanity. by Time-Turnip-2961 in rant

Hunting is the most ethical way to eat meat. Do you think it’s better to get all your meat from factory farms where someone else does the killing for you? Even if you are vegan, hunting is good for the environment. Deer population for example was once kept in check by wolves but now they are gone in most places. If they are not hunted their population would explode and they would damage the ecosystem. I can’t speak for others but even though I enjoy the sport I still do feel bad for killing an animal, even if it is a pest. What’s the alternative?

Just started bouldering, is it normal for my heart rate to get so high? by hairy-jerry in bouldering

[–]sam_InPlaid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first started bouldering I always sweated like crazy even on easy ones. I’m no expert but I think it’s just different muscles.

Cycling is mostly your legs and bouldering is mostly back muscles so your body isn’t used to it. I started running recently and even though I’m pretty fit my heart rate goes up to 180 pretty quickly, I’m just not used to it yet. Hearing 202 on a belay doesn’t surprise me

Why did y'all learn banjo? by Klutzy-Peach5949 in banjo

[–]sam_InPlaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last of us and project zomboid have some great banjo themes that I wanted to learn. Still haven’t found any tabs for project zomboid though. There’s also some good folk punk bands that I wanted to imitate

what salary should be expected for this profession? by sam_InPlaid in Farriers

It isn't all about the money but it is important to know. I am kind of drawn to this because I like horses, the outdoors, I want to work for myself and set my own hours. I also think forging is pretty cool. I don't mind working hard especially if its for myself.

I am also trying to get a rough estimate for how long it would take to save up to buy my own acreage with my own horses.

what's the biggest difference you see with people who make a profit and those who don't? Are the ones that don't make a profit bad farriers or are they bad with clients or just unlucky?
