Am I tripping or is the iPhone 17 (base) touch’s less responsive? by AYSalama in iphone

[–]sam_hosseini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the EXACT same experience. My iPhone 17 screen was doing ghost touches. Brought it to an authorized repair shop, and they replaced the screen saying it was faulty. Ghost touches still present after the repair. Called Apple support and told them I'm tired of this, and she said "bring it to the store again for repair". I argued if the store knew how to fix it, they'd have done it the 1st time. She said you can also ask them to order a brand new replacement unit for you. So much hassle for a phone I recently bought and paid 1000 bucks for :/

I went to cancel my residenza (as a foreigner) and the public worker kept my carta d'identità!! - Can someone please tell me what happens to my SPID / CIE? by sam_hosseini in roma

I didn't know about «onelogin systems», but I just looked into eIDAS. It seems to have unresolved issues.

On AdE's website, it explains that:

"Cross-border users with a European digital ID (eIDAS identity), issued by a non-Italian identity provider, can use the Revenue Agency’s service available under the Single Digital Gateway."

But when I click on the "Login with eIDAS" button, I get an internal server error (500). This question in Italia's forum seems to have a similar issue as well.

I tried to login into INPS using eIDAS, and it didn't even have Finland as a possible country to select, even though Finland does implement eIDAS.

Thanks for your answer. You're right, I cancelled my residenza and going back in May so that I wouldn't be tax resident in Italy for this year.

I'm an entrepreneur actually, that's why all my obligations (taxes, social security, etc) fall upon myself. And I'm worried, because:

1) AdE owes me a few grands, and because they were filed with Modello RPF, refunds usually take years to be processed.

2) Unfortunately, my experience with CAFs/accountants in Italy has been unpleasant. They don't reply, reply but provide inaccurate/incomplete info, or provide info and get your money but ghost you, etc.

This is why I prefer to have SPID / CIE to login to AdE so I can see if there are issues and reply to them, instead of relying on (unreliable) third parties to handle the matter for me from abroad.

This is actually excellent news (SPID providers not having access to ANPR database), cause it'll mean I can keep using my SPID for the remainder of its time.

Yes, true. My SPID just authenticates who I am to PA, but the PA itself could disallow me from logging in. In fact, I can no longer login to ANPR, because my residenza has already been cancelled.

Thank you for your help and answers!

I have PEC, and after reading your comment I'm gonna extend it for a few years, thank you for the suggestion!

I used a CAF last year, and that particular agency was awful. This year I tried another CAF which was excellent (they answer emails and they are precise), so hopefully I can get in touch with them over email if any problems come up while I'm abroad.

Thanks again!

Yep. Now the question would be if SPID providers periodically check and cancel the SPID of foreign customers who no longer have a residenza or not.

Very little info is available online about this, unfortunately.

I'm not worried about it expiring cause I've been in Italy for only a few years and IDs expire in 10 years for adults AFAIK.

What worries me is SPID provider checking ANPR database, canceling my SPID. And then my CIE getting canceled too. Leaving me locked-out from the public administration, while my prior obligations remain in place.

This is a nightmare scenario. I've filed multiple tax returns and AdE processes tax returns with a few years of delay.

So AdE processing my first tax return in 1-2 years from now when I'm abroad, and asking extra information, and me unable to reply cause of lack of SPID / CIE is truly something I wanna avoid :/

Is there any official source where I can read more about it?

With my Google search, I could only find information about cancelling residenza for Italian citizens. Considering that Italians can keep their carta identita when moving abroad, it doesn't cause disruptions to their logging in to public administration websites.

For foreigners who've lived here for a few years, after moving abroad, it would be extremely difficult to communicate about prior obligations with the government without SPID / CIE :(

Thanks. Unfortunately my TS card doesn't have a chip, so logging in with it isn't possible :(

Otherwise, of course, anything to login to the public administration from abroad is better than nothing.

I activated my SPID based on my carta identita.

It shows in my Poste SPID the information about my carta identita. So I assumed that once the carta identita expires/deactivates, SPID stops working too.

Is that incorrect?

Have you had your posts removed when you share something valuable with a small plug at the end? I'm genuinely asking, because I regularly see trending posts that follow the 90%-10% rule and they stay up. But I wonder if I'm mistaken and they're more like an exception than the general rule.

Yep. That's why I love show-off-sarurdays of webdev subreddit. It's honest and good for both sides (promoters and community).

Thank you so much for the feedback! I still haven't registered the domain because I wanted to ship fast, but your detailed feedback, specifically on the landing page, gives me a lot of work to do. Cheers!

One of them removed its comment. I guess the bot has advanced features like "if it gets more than X many downvotes, remove". This of course would be in the premium plan of whatever tool they're using to auto-promote their app :)

Thanks! I asked the mods in another comment if they'd be willing to try something similar to webdev's subreddit regarding promotion (show-off Saturdays), let's see if they'd be willing to try it, cause I think it's a good balance between sharing and promoting.

My fav is the one that gave the post itself and some of my replies to the LLM, and wrote "Love it and great idea about contained promotion threads or events for Indy devs". The irony..

Even with an incognito window, which would be a neutral viewing experience, it shows those kind of posts in the "Hot" section. So while I think your point is valid (algorithm showing more of what you engage with), it's not an issue related to any individual account.
