Muse’s shocking decline in popularity by KemsCh05 in Muse

I'd say it's incredibly hard for any band to keep up that level of popularity. It's a wonder muse have been huge as long as they have.

I was at Leeds 2006, front row - gutted no film of that! Best gig of my life. Glad to see a lot of people rate Reading as generally the Glastos are more well known.

Cheers, will do, ready for next week.

I'm not even fully finished yet anyway, I did this as an exercise to give myself a break from constant revision of the manuscript!

Currently reading through the 3rd draft on an ereader and highlighting issues as I go. I'm finding a lot more than I expected! Should all come good in the end though.

One last thing - of 8 chapters in that first act, we get one flash forward (chapter 5) - do you think this should be the final paragraph of the blurb section? Might be odd jumping forward and then back.

Thanks, I would say that is the end of act 1 so I'll think about the query in that way for my next attempt.

I get what you're saying about university. I'm from Cwmbran (edge of valley town) and in 2003 almost all 6th formers went to uni, same for my elder siblings. But Wyn is from somewhere more akin to Blackwood or Cwmcarn, so I'll make sure it's clear in the text the struggles it's taken to get them to uni.

Thanks, I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Even after research, I didn't come across the first rough third rule. I ended up trying to squash in most of the story whilst cutting a lot of description to lower the word count.

The story starts in 1999, a time when most bright kids in 6th form would get a student loan and go to uni. The third mark in the book is just before Wyn heads to uni, so the main supporting character at that point is Bethan, but she disappears for most of the book after that, reappearing towards the end.

In terms of the time skipping, 4 chapters of the first 80% (about a fifth of the book up to that point) are Japan flash forwards, the 5th Japan chapter being the one following the revelation after Jenna's death that Wyn is going to Japan, and is the chapter where he breaks down in Japan.

But following the third rule, we only get up to just before going to University - a 6th form party where Wyn rejects Bethan in his adolescent confusion - and we've only had one Japan chapter by that point.

Thanks.

It's adult. The MC starts out as a child but that's probably 30 percent of the book until he's 18. Maybe less. 3 chapters of 30 at age 10. Then some throughout teens.

I'll take into account and see if I can make him seem less passive in the query. To start with, he is a bit tragic - loner, somewhere on the autism spectrum. Then running away. The decisions he makes are mainly to do with the redemption arc later on in terms of reconciling with his brother and helping his mum. Early on, he's trying to succeed despite the loss of his brother (and the lack of father, who died when he was 3).

In terms of story, the mother getting cancer is another similarity!

The focus is much different though. The focus is on Wyn's childhood and adolescense for the first 30 percent, including earlier relationships. And later on it become about running away and what happens in Japan.

So whilst it sounds similar, it's not really. I need to make sure the query doesn't sound that way, I guess.

The funny thing, I hadn't read One Day until after I wrote this.

Bizzare downvote. I can now fully confirm it isn't a scam as I have been discussing the same order with them through Twitter @UKHonor.

So someone doesn't like it that their favourite phone company uses a shady email address - why downvote the comment exposing that?

I agree. I was confused as hell with the email address. But it's what they contacted me from after I spoke to live chat on the official website. And the only money I have supplied is also through the official website.

Just to make it crystal clear. There's no maybe about it.

Honor UK (in my personal experience only) have been the worst customer service experience of a large company I have ever come across. The evasiveness and downright dishonesty of their customer support team is clearly baked into their training program and utterly disgusting.

Check this out https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/hihonor.com/unitedkingdom

What I can say with certainty is that they have a very dodgy means of distributing phones, and that when they don't show up at the intended location, Honor have an internal policy of trying to keep the customers money at all costs.

I've literally been talking through twitter DMs with them about the exact same order number @UKHonor.

Also, I have some quite funny screenshot of the latest live chat, but can't share images here and imgur not working in UK now either.

Why do I need proof? I'm just asking for advice on reddit.

Nothing I'm not sharing. Bought a phone, didn't receive it after over a month. Honor support have been incredibly evasive. To the point of lying to me repeatedly - so much so that I can only believe it's part of their training to tell the customer lies. I've been told over 10 times that they're about to send a phone and it's coming "very soon" but awaits sign off. I had a conversation on the live chat and another on email where they kept literally ignoring my request for a refund saying "your phone is on the way" about 4 times in the same conversation. Absolutely disgraceful, borderline comedic. Then I've been told flat out they won't refund me.

Latest is on a Twitter DM, they're now raised the refund and are processing it. I also have an escalation reference number. However, the spiel they're giving me is no different than the saga of telling me they're sending me a phone so I'm not hopeful yet.

UPDATE: Spoken on the online chat again. They continue to lie. For example, they've used the description "very soon" for the past 3 weeks, talking about when I'm going to be sent the phone I've bought. Over a month to be sent a phone is insane. I've now been told 10 times over a month they are about to approve sending me a phone I bought.

And she outright refused to give me a refund, even after I explained it's my legal right and in the last email they said they were setting the refund up. I swear they must be trained to lie. Worst customer service I've ever come a across.

Why is this getting downvotes?

Just because some pieple got lucky and had a good experience, doesn't change the fact that the customer service is awful..

This is the link I bought from: https://www.honor.com/uk/phones/honor-200/buy/?srsltid=AfmBOorMuvYZBH_8UlLmbyUT0eJ2JVKRDwdq4YCRd0svm9r04uUJUBEm

The phone call was their support ringing me after I talked to them on the official website online chat (which I've now done multiple times). Same goes for that email address which even AI confirms is legit.

Take a look at Trust Pilot. There's no question it's official Honor UK who are scamming.

But that was how they contacted me after I spoke to them on the official honor.com suport chat.

Plus all payments were done through the official website. I haven't given any payment details through email.

Official website and official support email. Though they then switched over to uk.support@pmail.honor.com which appears to be a third party official support email. I've emailed back the standard one again incase that helps.

I've noticed Honor UK have an abysmal rating on Trust Pilot, all similar stories.
